Craigslist Dude said: Beautiful 1985 Maserati Biturbo for restoration/personal build/or for parts. I have the original title, it is clean. I have a binder that goes with the car that includes the original purchase receipt, owners manual, dozens of service records, a few Maserati Owners Club pamphlets, and the holy grail of any car, the Technical Service Manual. The new parts include front brake pads, fuel filters, fuel pump, some brake lines, rear brake caliper rebuild kit, and air filters. The rebuilt parts include rear subframe, air intake housing, carburetor, and front brake calipers. The car has minimal rust and cleans up well, paint can be restored. It currently has a non-operable 2.5lt twin turbo V6 with a 5 speed dogleg shift. The engine ran before it was dismantled but had a blown turbo on the passenger side. Endoscope pictures show the cylinders are in good condition but have caked on deposits from the oil leak. The engine itself has minor nicks and dings, but no serious or hidden damages. While the car was running, I ran it through all the gears and it operates in good health, some noise at speeds cause by failing u-joints. **Note: This is a project car; it does not drive currently. It will need to be towed to its new home.** I am open to trades, no reasonable offer will be ignored.

Of course, it doesn't run or drive, but from the seller's sales pitch, it sounds sort of optimistic that it could be put together and actually run again. Or, just ditch that setup and swap in the drivetrain of your choice.

I think that if someone brings a Biturbo with it's original drivetrain AND can survive the Challenge, they shoud get some sort of award.

Hope springs eternal in the hearts of fools (and Biturbo owners).

78,950 is an abosolute ton of miles on a BiTurbo. It is rare to see one exceed 50k.

Does not run. Imagine that, a non-running BiTurbo!

Optimistic yes. I read it more to say, "could be put back together just not by me, even though I have the service manual."

Makes me wonder what the Award/Prize should be.
Maybe another non running BiTurbo.

I like how the interior of every Biturbo I've ever seen is upholstered in the finest E.T. leather money can buy. No wonder why he wanted to go home so badly.

I do think GRM should do a "Z = Zero" clause for the Biturbo. Meaning, you bring a Biturbo with original drivetrain to the challenge, you can claim an unlimited budget with no penalty.

Maybe there should be a "Really Bad Idea" award.... Possibly selected by the other competitors due their knowledge of why certain cars are really bad ideas.

That actually looks like a good project, but then I already have one. If someone here buys it I can offer some info to help out.

Another one for sale:

BiTurbo

The owners apparently have a trailer, as the pictures are all in different locations.

I wish my life was more together so I could ruin it with the purchase of one of these BiTurbo's. I kind of want one with a cloth top.

If I ever find another convertible one for Challenge money close enough to get home, I'm almost certain to jump at it. Still regret not trying to get the barn find one that showed up at the local auction a few years back...

I'd buy that if they knocked a "0" off the price.

Might be the only car where using the turn signal is risky. If you blow the turn signal fuse the engine will die. A simple valve adjustment will cost more than the car is worth, that is if you can find someone that knows how to do the job. Hard to find a experienced Mechanic to do that job, if they have done it before they won't want to do it again. Same issue with replacing the clutch, if you have done it once you won't be willing to do it again.

Do these things become reliable if you remove all the badging? I mean, if the car doesn't know it's a BiTurbo...

I want a convertible one because of the challenge of making it work and the fact that it's as close as exists to a convertible DeLorean...
