///Low Miles 1986 Toyota MR2 Rebuild Project///
A lot of mystique around this car. They handle like a dream, run fast and reliable when set up right, and look like something out of an 80's music video. Aesthetic. Powerful. Etc. Has a 900lb. frame. Voted car of the year in Japan from 1984-1985.
Got an excellent condition shell, with enough parts to last a decade or two, and a complete engine with another full engine taken apart, cleaned, and ready for the rebuild. Bought this as a project, and hoping to find a lucky home for her before the snow really sets in. No garage to keep her in! Anyone who's an MR2 enthusiast will tell you there's not many of these '86s left and that it's just an incredibly fun car. Glass is in great shape, has a moonroof, one minor spot of rust on the left rear quarter, and the tires will need to be replaced, but other than that—a good clean through could have her in almost perfect cosmetic shape.
Because she's been taken apart, the odometer probably isn't 100% accurate, but it reads at about 5,000 miles, fun fact.
Wish I could take the time and care she needs to restore her, but I know someone out there will be able to do the TLC and get a great deal of life out of the car.
This listing includes:
- Rolling shell in good-to-great condition, almost pristine exterior.
- Interiors: in decent shape, no tears in the upholstery, but a bit dirty.
- Two 4AG Engines: Got through cleaning and disassembling one of them, but don't have the tools or the time to rebuild.
- Transmission: haven't hooked it up but looks to be in usable condition.
- Alternator, exhaust, and a host of other decently sorted parts, including a few that were mail ordered.
- Original tires, plus spare, wheels in good shape, (will need to be trailered.)
- The original Automotive Repair Manual! In acceptable condition, but can be a life-saver doing rebuilds.
Open to offers, or some trades, but bottom line I would like to see her heading to a good home before the weather gets to her. Don't want to see the beauty yarded! Message if you have any questions! Have a title and some vintage plates, and my friend and I can help load the engines and parts crates if you have a truck or trailer and need help.
A lot of the running/driving 86's are in pretty poor shape, or going for $6,000-$7,000 in good condition. Here's your chance if you've been lookin'!
