April 10th update
A rainy day here meant I could get a full day in the garage.
started on the bonnet, there was a small split on the return lip at the front, where the latch is. I welded that up, ground it smooth then primer.
Came out pretty good.
I've got new bonnet hinges that I need to fit. A trip to the hardware store to see what thread they used.
The A panel to Wing stiffener brackets were next. Just a simple bent piece of 22ga.
spot welded, cleaned up and then primed
repeated on the other side
then onto the trunk, eugh this will be a lot of work..
Under the layer of rust there was some bondo covering these random countersunk holes.
also a few rust holes.
the inside has some corrosion too.
cut out and new section to be added
April 11th update
Boot lid rust repaired and those random holes welded up. I etch primed and there's a few dents that will need a bit of body filler. But on the whole it didn't turn out too bad and I managed to reuse an original panel.
precariously placed to test fit.
I restored the original hinges with new studs loctited in and some new hardware.
with the hinges and lock mechanism reinstalled.
all the dust is from my wife's CNC machines running in the same space currently while we wait for her concrete to dry and build her a proper workshop.
I remembered it's a right of passage to bang your head on the bonnet latch, so I got the boy to help me fit the bonnet hinges while I held it up.
I popped the doors on to see how it all looks now that it has a front end.
I really need some nicer photos and have all the parts spread out to properly advertise it.
but I did list it for sale on a couple of Facebook groups, so we'll see what interest it gets.
You'll need to log in to post.
