Howdy, I finally started fixing the 1966 Galaxie Convertible that I haven't touched in 10 years.

It went down for brakes (4 wheel drums) and that spiraled into a disk brake swap (all 4) and a complete suspension overhaul and then the engine didn't want to run and then the transmission was leaking badly... Anyway, I got tired of messing with it and it got thrown under a tarp and forgotten about.

Now it has a new Street Demon 625 carb and an Amazon special HEI. It fires right up and sounds good! However, the fuel pump and alternator are both dead so the HEI isn't happy and it dies very quickly. New parts in the mail.

Brakes still need finishing and the master installed.

The suspension is mostly back together except the panhard bar.

The best that I can hope for at this point is to get it running so I can drive it under the car port.

I remember that car, good to see her getting some love!

Nice. Good luck to you.

I'd always thought it'd be cool to have a large, old-school convertible to cruise around in.

That's a handsome ride!

I'd love a full size Ford of that vintage, though I prefer the pointy-nose 1967 version. Hard to find with a good frame these days. What engine did you get in that one?

Disk brakes probably would be good for a big ol 60's yacht. But seeing how they went before, it probably isnt the best idea.

It has a 352 FE for now. I may do something else later but for now it will stay.

It already has most of the disk brake upgrade installed. Fronts are a kit using GM parts and the rears are from a mustang cobra. I have a crown Vic master to go on but the original booster was falling apart and the replacement that is supposed to be a direct fit isn't.

Beautiful car. As a kid we rode around in a 67 wagon. I always liked these.

It isn't nearly as nice in person. There are several places with bondo chipping that I am going to need to do something about.

New 3g alternator installed and alternating. Next I need to fill up the transmission to see if it will engage drive. If that goes well, it will get pulled into the shop for the fuel pump install and maybe to finally finish the brakes. If not, it will get parked for the winter

Eagle eye readers will see that the radiator is discolored. I realized that the think is split at the bottom. That seems to be where the transmission leak is likely from. New aluminum one is in the mail. Should be here Friday.

Wow it's like I have the sister to your car but in hardtop form. You get the stance right on this thing and there isn't anything more stunning. Good luck man

New radiator arrived. Naturally it is shorter and thicker than the original unit. Had to modify the bracket beyond the height difference as the cap neck is in the middle instead of offset. It's pretty steady even without the hoses installed.

The old radiator is definitely trashed.
