I think mine was 2.2 or somesuch.
And yeah, if the hose has a lot of ballooning, that will mess with the whole game. I did not have that problem, just line restriction.
The beauty of the high build stage is that you cant berkeley up. 90% is going to look amazing and there is nothing stopping you from fixing the bits that don't make you happy before you do the final topcoat ( epoxy in your case).

Yeah it sucked. I am just going to do a whole new air system. I need to. Will all be 3/4" to the hose connections. The reel is 3/8 and a have a 1/2" hose.
I am debating on 2 or 2.2mm, I will be drilling the fuild cap on the HF gun. 5/64= just under 2mm. 3/32 is really close to 2.2
And yes, I can sand most of the screw up back out :D

Thanks!! I am hoping I don't need anything at this point.

Started working on re-piping the air. Didn't get far as I forgot the tool for the fittings.....
Here is the fun part. Its a leftover from a past project that has been kicking around the shop. Its a drain heat recovery pipe, but I think it will work great as a cooling section. Its 40lbs of copper. I have seen lots of manifolds build onto the wall after the compressor in air builds, this is kinda just one wrapped up in a big pipe. 3/4" copper slits into 4 3/8" ish pieces wrapped around a 3" tube. I am replubing it all in 3/4" which I am finding is probably crazy overkill, because I have to neck down for the quick connects, but whatever.... :D
Ran some pipes around the attic, but its flopping as I didn't have the right parts....
Wow, that's one expensive hunk of copper to have kicking around in the shop! Will you force some air down the drain portion to increase heat transfer?
In reply to Mezzanine :
Yeah it is..... Long story, but the 6' one didn't fit in the hole.... Shorter was ordered and this wasn't returnable... So its getting put to use! I did have a thought of a computer fan, but I will see how hot it really gets. I left it down from the ceiling a bit, so there could be some convection?
Got 15 mins yesterday.
Line coming from the compressor outisde. It will have a low point drain there also.
Adapters sweated onto the heat exchanger.
First of many fittings. I may need a drain there too. Clear pip so we can find out though. And yes I realize this isn't normal air line pipe..... But I think it will be fine. Time will tell.

No work on the car, but work on the air system happened!
Leader and drain point for the compressor. 3/4" might have been overkill
Drain fitting at the cooler pipe. Looking at the "filter/water trap" I think the pipe will probably get most of the water condensed back out.... so I bypassed the filter for the line running to the hose reel on the other side of the garage. So I have the option of running thru both or just using the hose reel.
All plumbed up. kinda.... I ran out of pipe. And need a few more fittings.... I burned thru 60' of pipe in my little garage already!
Well berk me for trying to clean the water trap... The seal had swelled and it's leaking now.... Ugh. Put rtv one it. Wish me luck

In the future, the next time you part out a car with air conditioning steal the condenser.
They're fantastic aftercoolers for air compressors. The working pressure for the one I grabbed out a Golf is 600psi.

Is that the bit in the dash or up front? I may have a full RV AC unit next to the garage.... But I Think the power pipe will work pretty well
In reply to java230 :
Condenser is in front, evaporater is in cockpit.

This is kinda like telling the guy with a Ferrari to shop for a Corvette. That fabulous copper art looks great for the job. Looks like the kind of thing most of us would never spring for due to cost (I assume).
In reply to ClemSparks :
Yeah not inexpensive.... Iirc it was 950$ ish....
And I do have the condenser from the IH still if needed.
I'll take suggestions for a decent inexpensive water separator and filter.....my hopes are not high for this one.
I have the harbor freight one. Its ok so far.
In reply to Dusterbd13-michael (Forum Supporter) :
This one is HF also, but 25 or more years old....

His bit of copper awesomeness has a lot of thermal mass but low surface area. Heavy continuous use will get it hot.
Tiny leak at the filter.... New one ordered
OK after a two week(??) sidetrack of the air system, its done. 3/4" line everywhere. Reg on back wall, hose reel with full pressure up front.

This fitting failing started this whole ordeal.... Whole system leaked down 100psi since Thursday. I may chase that.... I think its the drain on the compressor.
Sanded the problem spot on the fender. I think its still got a little wave in it, but I'm calling it good enough for now.
Yay back to sanding! Got the whole roof scuffed, most of the window frames, the drivers rocker. Need to hit the channels/curves still, ran out of scotchbrite
Hung some more plastci and set up my paint mix table.
Then got to making my HF Purple gun have a bigger orifice.
Blow it all apart, if the brass air "spreader" comes off, it has an internal 10mm allen key.
Here you can see how its barely seating on the tip of the needle. This is what lets us get away with this.
Break out A 5/64 bit, and drill the orifice larger. This is 1.98mm. Dont go bigger. The nozzle does not have much more meat left. Any larger and it will blow the sides out.
After drilling.
Reassemble and it still seals up fine.
Now if I can get this dining table out of here......
Took a few minutes yesterday to work on heater hoses.
Nipples are not terrible.
Routing is a little funky, but should work fine.
I'm reading this trying to understand how heater hoses have anything to do with painting...
In reply to Mezzanine :
Yeah Yeah..... I need to back the car out of the garage to clean under it..... And paint takes a day off....
