I was just a little kid at the time but I remember being fascinated by it because it was one of the first cars in the neighborhood that had four rectangular headlights, which seemed like a big deal back then.

There's a 1980 Pontiac brochure here for reference purposes: http://www.oldcarbrochures.com/static/NA/Pontiac/1980%20Pontiac/dirindex.html

I instantly thought about those, too. I've seen so many of those Cadillacs where the QPs just... end and then 4" aft of that, the taillights are sticking up like some weird little vestigial rudder.

I already own a Monza tail and hood. If I can find out what the original pieces look like, I would like to keep it Poncho. The whole family likes this thing....better than the Monzarelli. I am also hoping the filler looks like a Monza notch filler. Those are still around

Didn't you make a Beetle look like a '40 Ford coupe? This shouldn't be terribly difficult for you.

I've actually been looking for one of those. Wish I could stumble across something like that locally.

I wonder why that didn't work...go to http://www.oldcarbrochures.com/ , then scroll down to Pontiac.

JohnRW1621 posted some leads...they don't pan out, but they did reply. Maybe someone knows of a car being parted or a salvage your where one sits.

I thought Chriswell's has some of those Sunbirds in the yard. It's been a couple years since I was down there, but I'm pretty sure they had some.

I think I remember them, now that you mentioned it. Mom and Dad live 2 miles from there....

Sounds like it's time to go visit Mom & Dad.

For some reason I think they have a green one with white interior. Looked like one a classmate had in high school. The car died back then, so it might even be his.

You could narrow and tuck the bumpers, no more need for fillers. Haven't seen one of these in 20+ years that wasn't tubbed with a V8. Looking forward to the build, always liked these cars!

The car will be a three itch car. One of the itches will not allow modification to the bumpers. And the car is rust free with only 40K on the odom. There are plenty of rusty cars to tub.

I had one. The Monza version with the Spyder package. It ostensibly had the 305 SBC. I say ostensibly because it ran way better than it had any right to. Had the tiny little Dual-jet carb which gave incredibly snappy throttle response. I lost it trying to catch up with a fully leather-clad guy on an early sport bike. This was in '86. I got $250 for what was left of it. My father really liked that car. My mom said he cried.
