a 5 letter too, cool!
Any chance you'd want to sell those GSL-SE wheels? I've been looking for a set for my '86 turbo 626.
Great build so far. Are you planning to run the FC subframe or stick with the FB?
I have collected parts for both ways but haven't started my build yet. My car is your twin. Same color and everything.

I have a bunch of gsl-se wheels if your interested. It would be coming from FL. I maybe able to put them on a slow boat (free) to the Champaign, IL if your not in a rush.

I would/will but it'll probably be a roller for quite a while.
I do have the transmission from this for free if anyone is interested.

I've read about the fc subframe so it's a possibility but prob. not initially.
I've also read you can use fc hubs/ brakes on the gsl-se uprights...not sure on that.
If I have to go explorer rear on this it'd be nice to have the matching bolt pattern.
I want to use the stock fuel door/filler but since the gas tank will be higher I notched out the frame rail to get some additional clearance. Used 11 ga for this.
Had to notch out this square area to fit the coilovers. The tabs are the new upper shock mounts. I'll weld a bolt to them and they'll use the stock upper shock mounting.
They're basically these:
But I made them with a little offset.
Currently waiting on some bushings to continue with rear suspension. I cut out some lower coilover mounts and the third link mounts on the rear end side.

I have one of the original Re-Speed kits for the T2 brakes on our chumpcar and just bought a second kit (about $200 iirc) from a guy that is reproducing them on the 1st Gen Facebook group.
I'd get a set now if your interested. Even if you don't use them you'll be able to resell for the same money or more down the road since the guy is doing limited runs.

I found the FB group but don't know how to find the forsale post. Can you link it?
Thanks.
Not sure if this link will work but his name is Mark Strehlow if you message him.

Here is the complete kit he sells in eBay as well.

Thanks Greg, I'll keep it in mind.
Mount for upper link. I'll have the cut opening smoothed out and a box covering everything when I'm finished.
Also, obviously that's not a link. I cut out a profile of the link to test. Did the same on the panhard bar brackets. I'll make the links soon.
Reused the stock lower links but bought poly bushings for everthing.
Rear shot:
It gets parallel if we put some body weight on it. Fuel tank and bumper will help. Panhard is probably 32" long
Tank math works out to 18.5 gallons. Return goes into the little box but I put some baffles in there too.
Still need to finish welding. I welded the inside completely (save for the top) with mig but will probably tig the outside. All seams have a flange for strength.
Also need the filler neck.
Ready to weld:
