That would be awesome. At least on a sunny day.

On Sunday on one of my runs I wore out my race shoe from using the throttle so much.
To make my last and fastest run I had to tape the shoe together to keep the detached sole from flopping around. This sole has been glued on once before and that bought me another year. Time for a new set of driving shoes.
Apparently Photobucket doesn't like being used as a place to host photos anymore. Looks like all my photos are disabled right now. They want $399 to allow this. That is not happening. I already tried Google Photos and Google pretty much doesn't allow links to photos (what Photobucket calls 3rd party hosting.)

I'll look into imgur.com. This is really kind of annoying. I have dropbox for hosting photos but that doesn't seem to be able to create a link this forum can used. I've used google photos and that doesn't work. Now photobucket is holding viewing of my pictures hostage.
I tried using google photos, one photo I posted still works the rest disappeared. Forums need a better solution to posting photos.
Right now I think I'm going to look into self hosting the pictures. I already have a personal domain.

As an attempt at self hosting photos I edited this previous post. Can anyone see the image on this post?
Just refreshed it again. I changed to Piwigo since it seems to work better for direct linking and has more options.
Assuming everyone can still see the shoes above I now just need to upload a whole bunch of pictures and edit all the links. Fun!
I've done a few pages but lots left to fix. I've uploaded all my photobucket pictures to be hosted on my own domain. That seemed like the best long term solution.
I can't wait to finish this so I can delete my photobucket account. I would have been willing to pay a small amount per year to avoid this but if photobucket needs to have every user that does 3rd party links pay $399 a year to stay in business then they should just shutdown their servers now because that isn't going to happen.
Still working on fixing all the photo links. I think I'm about half done.
I just found out my friend and fellow competitor Luke Moultroup now has a build thread
1995 Howe Mod Hillclimb Special
Luke has appeared in this thread a few times. Luke has been racing with NEHA about four years now but his car has been in NEHA much longer. He bought it off Robert "Smokey" Smolinski who has been racing in hillclimbs since the 60's and has won King of the Hill multiple times. Smokey had raced this car for several years but was looking to retire from racing and sold it to Luke. Luke has put it to good use and just got back from racing at Mt Washington. I didn't race Washington this time but I did work in timing and scoring so I got to watch Luke launch up the hill. Smokey was also working at Mt Washington and I heard him proudly telling people that Luke's fast car used to be his and that he was impressed with how well Luke was driving it.
Yay finally finished changing all the photo links in the whole build thread. Now to delete that photobucket account.
The good part is I had to look at just about every post and I did some cleaning up and even added some more photos. In some cases I added better explanations of things. Just a general edit and clean up.

Thanks for the bump Kevin. That is one of my favorite photos of the car. I like making the tires work hard. Ill have to try Piwigo for photo hosting to get some more pictures up on my thread.
In reply to Challenger392:
You need to have your own domain then you can use Piwigo to self host. I'm using LunarPages and a domain isn't that expensive.
You can see my racing photos (where I am linking from ) at Kevin's Race Photos
The domain nhwoods.net is mine.
Challenger392 wrote: Ok thanks Kevin. I just tried a different route, can you see any pictures on my thread?
Yup lots of photos now. But I too was able to get google photos to work for a day or two. Then it would fail. Hope you have better luck.
Ya, this will be the real test. I placed them all in specific public folders to see if that helps. I just wanted to make sure I'm not the only one seeing them.
Getting ready for the first Burke event. Changed gears to the 5.04s and hosed down the car to get rid of all the mud from Okemo. Not much else to report I like it when there is nothing to fix!
just read through all of this, great writeup.
So, the SuperChicken.....you are consistently 2-5 seconds behind him at most events....is this due to the weight/AWD/or anything you can pinpoint? You obviously are a talented driver and have honed your car in very well.

I'm not so sure about the talented driver part. Power and sticky tires cover a lot of sins.
I'm not afraid of throwing a powerful car up the hill which works in my favor. I've heard comments from lots of other drivers that driving my car up the hill is more than they want. Some of them are undoubtedly more talented but they are happy in their lower powered, more traditional cars.
The three fastest cars in the last 20+ years are all AWD. I don't think that is a coincidence. NEHA Hillclimbs are twisty with lots of slow corners. AWD makes accelerating out of slow corners easier and faster. My experience with AWD (I had a WRX) on the street shows it is much easier to control in low traction situations.
For example I owned a Mustang years ago. Even with snow tires it was all over the place on a slippery day. The back end would just go one way or another and it was always trying to lead. The WRX had almost exactly the same amount of power as the Mustang and similar tires. But it was a blast on a slippery day. It would break wheels free but the car didn't try to spin out and kill you every second. With the WRX even in the snow you could just stomp on it coming out of a corner. You might spin all the wheels but it would still move forward and be in control. Try than in the Mustang and you would just end up spinning the car. My wife once did a 360 in the Mustang turning on a damp road.
Racing with lots of power you are basically always pushing the limits of traction. The good AWD systems allow you to put more power down and do it in a more controllable manner.
At least that is my cut. I don't make any claims to expertise.
In some ways what I need as a driver is more training in controlling the car with the back end hung out. Not that I want to drift up the mountain but better skills for controlling that and recovering from massive over-steer would be useful. Hard to practice that at a hillclimb. I need a big parking lot where I can leave lots of black lines. :-)
