Did those rub at all? I had a set on my MX-3 when I bought it and they rubbed. Now with the ZX2 trailing arms, and Ksports I wonder if they would now...hmmm

They don't work at all on the MX6 without spacers. They're supposed to fit with 12mm spacers with 225 width rubber, but i'm running 245 width and am not much concerned with fitting so much of the tire UNDER the car, so i'm just running 20mm spacers.

I was running 225/50/16 NT-450 good daily driver tires, for autocross I'd rather ran no tire at all lol....

I'd been noticing a loss in power and an increase in the sound of an exhaust leak. So I decided to find the cause and repair it. Upon inspection I thought the Manifold to Turbo Gasket was bad, luckily I already had one handy as a spare. As I began removing the manifold and turbo I immediately found the issue... The whole turbo assembly was VERY loose. All of the studs were loose as seen here... http://s79.photobucket.com/albums/j125/dansXR2/?action=view&current=DanielSartin.mp4

The next couple of things will require the engine and transmission to be removed from the car.

  1. Respray Engine Bay/Tidy up wiring, and remove unneeded crap
  2. Replace newly found leaking Rear Main Seal
  3. Paint
  4. Then on to get my MegaSquirt DIYPnP up and goin!

Figure this might be the right place for this, mostly because the MX-3 knowledge seems to sit in here.

What stock-class legal sway bars are available for the MX3? All I've come across from my interwebs searches is a non-adjustable Whiteline rear bar.

Addco and Suspension Techniques both make/made one.

From what I've been told, the Whiteline bar is superior for the MX-3. When I can find one, it'll be on my to do list!

Jim is also working on a speed-way style through-body bar that i believe is legal for stock class. (FSB is open, right?)

Otherwise, Erik (STS_ZX2 on here) has a source for some custom bars that should work on MX3.

I'd JUST gone through their catalogs this morning...and didn't find one. Link?

Also, any idea on the weight for a stock GS? How about camber up front, any ability to get any in stock form?

I may have been mistaken, sorry about that.

But here's something: http://www.speedyracer.com/1990-1997-Mazda-Miata-MX3-Swaybar-Front-and-Rear

And i'm finding stuff that says you can use a Protege/Escort front bar, but it requires different endlinks. (Maxima i think)

My car has MX-6 GT Ksport adj. Coilovers so for adjustments I'm unable to offer any input for that

Heavy. Anywhere from 2600-2800lbs depending on options. Might be able to get camber by spinning around the upper strut mounts. Aren't "Crash bolts" legal in stock class, too, though? You could probably get around -2* using those.

Interested to see what you do with this thing... i don't think it'll be competitive in stock class, but would love to be proven wrong.

Damn. I was hoping for quite a bit lighter. A base MINI weighs about 300lbs less than that (the target car to beat). That is hardly lighter than my Mazda3 that I ran in HS for a while, and that had another 20 horsepower. Crash bolts are only legal if they're specified as a factory-legal repair option (I don't know of any cars other than Toyotas/Scions where this is the case).

I guess it'd be a turd in SMF, too due to the weight, even with a KL swap, unless the KL is much lighter (I don't recall it is, but I really don't know that much about these, I'm a Miata guy).

Honestly, I want to run an oddball car. I've been running an ES Miata for a while, and would love to find a not often-considered Mazda to run in stock class. The MX3 seemed like a good option, but still berkeleying heavy, which is what's killing EVERYTHING against the Mini. Nothing they make will win in GS, and all of the other classes Mazda makes a car for, it's competitive.

It wouldn't be too bad in SMF... KL swap isn't lighter, but some of the allowances in terms of modifications can lose a lot of weight, and swapping interior stuff via allowances in Appendix A... you could probably get down around 2200-2300lbs if you did it right.

SMF S/C KL MX3 would be interesting.

Interesting, but not likely competitive against a K-swapped EG.

The 4 cylinder might be a better choice, but it's seriously down on grunt.

If a 323 hatch is GS, it's a better choice.
