Oh yea, power steering computer problem too.

The steering related sound is slightly different. However without hearing both, they can be mistaken for each other.

I think the uncentered steering wheel is also a pattern of buzzes, not a continuous buzz.

Continuous buzz indicates water or oil iirc.

Almost certainly water then, I need to top it up after doing the thermostat. That would also explain why it went away later, since it would push water out into the overflow as it got hot. Thanks!

So that cage doesn't have an X or V bar across the roof?

Nope- if there were no "grandfathering" it would be difficult to make it legal.

New thermoswitch installed- fans now come on just above the halfway point on the temperature gauge

No more buzzer either- it was definitely the low coolant warning.

Anyway, I'm trying to figure out my wheel/tire situation. I currently have the following:
-6 175/70r15 Rally Tires
-6 RX7 BBS 15x6.5 wheels
-3 RX7 GXL 15x6 wheels

I need at least 4 snows, and plan to get a set of tarmac wheels/tires as well (but those don't have to be as strong and dimensions can be whatever). The BBS wheels are the lightest OEM wheel I've ever held, and I'd love to put the rally tires on them but they scare me a bit since light might mean weak.

Pick up more OEM wheels for the rally tires? Put them on the BBSs? Run snows on the BBSs? Get real rally wheels ($$$)? Halp!

Id put the rally tires on the BBS's. They are a quality wheel and will help offset the heavy tires.

I run my snows on the 15s since they have such wimpy sidewalls, but all my gravels are on 14s. I'd put your snows on the narrowest and heaviest wheels you have, personally.

I may actually be picking up some Infiniti wheels that should fit the bill for snows. The big question in my mind is whether the BBSs are going to crack when I hit a rock with them- but I would love the ultra light weight, and maybe the ultra heavy rally tire sidewalls will protect them?

IDK about your BBSs.....tons of e30 guys run the BBS euroweave 15s in european rally (as well as the US, non-BBS weaves) and they seem to be fine. Not really familiar with the RX7 BBSs though.

In any case, with that lug pattern you should be able to pick up cheap wheels pretty easily on craigslist and whatnot. It kills me trying to find wheels for my 4-lug setup in any sizes other than 14" :/

Snow wheels acquired:

These are for an Infiniti i30. They were cheap, they weigh a berkeleyton, and they look pretty "rally spec" with all those spokes. They're easily 4x the weight of the BBS wheels despite being the same dimensions- per Josh's suggestion, I'll be putting the snows on these.

Does anybody need a set of Infiniti center caps? How about a E36 M3load of 15" all-seasons?

Jeep wheels can look pretty bad ass too.

Especially the basketweave ones.

I have 12 BBS wheels ( and counting) all with rally tires on, I rallycross them pretty hard and they are fine. I aim to add to this collection, and then soon all my tires will have the same wheels and photo homogeneity will be achieved.

I run them because they look the best and are the lightest and probably strongest.

Also, its fun to pick up one of these with 205 rally tires, it feels like a donut (the food kind) because its like you cant feel really any mass in the middle because the tires way so much more in comparison.

Some little stuff added- fire extinguisher and glass breaker/seatbelt cutter, both on the codriver's side, although I can reach them easily as well from the driver's seat.

I used extremely weak zip ties on the glass breaker so that it can be pulled away quickly and easily.

In other news, DMack tires take A LOT of pressure to seat the bead- like 160 psi

Got my temp tag, drove the car to the gas station and back in the monsoon we're currently having.
Observations:
-I need to go a few degrees colder on the fan thermoswitch, it gets pretty hot before they kick on.
-I need to seal the roof/roof vent/other stuff better. Any hints from the FC experts on where I might find leaks to the interior?
-The defroster/defogger isn't very good at its' job.
-The suspension ROCKS, stuff that has my truck bottoming out is barely noticeable in this thing.

nice, I have two extinguishers and a breaker sitting around here waiting to install as well once the cage is in :)

interesting about the DMacks. Shawn has mounted several sets for me (on 14s) and they've gone on easily with a lot less pressure to seat the beads. The Yokos he put on Sennett's 15s took the max pressure he could get in them to seat...scurry.
