The red piece is long gone. I tried pulling up and moving around the switch while it was on the car but didn't get anywhere, there wasn't really much to grab and I didn't think of needle nose pliers.
The whole hazard switch assembly is in poor shape so I figured I would just completely bypass it while it is out.

You may be still able to get a new Sierra sapphire style switch (it’s been a decade since I’ve had xrs!) and the only difference is the hazard switch is round instead of square. You can either use the later column shrouds, or modify yours.

If ya look around, they are out there.
Jeff Herson at Merkur Parts Midwest will have some. http://merkurmidwest.com/
I probably have a good one on the parts car- can you take a photo of exactly the bit you need?

It's the whole turn signal stalk, the hazard switch is to far gone to replace just the red button. Merkur Midwest only has non-cruise stalks and for $75 plus shipping I'm ok with just soldering a single jumper wire to get my turn signals back.
Does your parts car have a good right front turn signal (i think that's what it is) lens? The rectangular one low in the bumper.
It does have a good front right signal, also have Euro headlights and a Cosworth grille if that's stuff you'd want. The turn signal stalk is a cruise control model, but looks like the hazard button is smashed so it's probably no better than yours.

I could use the turn signal if you want to sell it. The euro headlights and grille would be cool but I'm not willing to spend the money for them.
Sure, let me pull it off there this weekend to make sure the whole thing is intact and I'll PM you.

Awesome, thanks. I just need the clear one, not sure if the clear and amber are one unit with separate lenses or separate units.

I soldered a jumper wire on the two contacts that needed to be jumped. I put the switch back in and turned on the right turn signal and it worked. I flipped it to the left signal and it didn't work. Now I have no turn signals again. I can hear a click when I turn on the turn signals so maybe the relay or flasher decided to quit working. More investigation later.

Make sure the connections at the tail lights are good too.
That is a weekly check on my car
Isn't there something with these cars where there is 30 miles of wiring involved just to light up an indicator on the center console to let you know if there's a bulb out?

Yup, sure is.
i laugh at it sometimes when it shows the doors opening and closing while driving down the road.
