Thanks guys. I appreciate the support. FWIW: Other than email this forum was the first thing I looked at when I got my phone back.

No kidding, glad you're recovering! Hoping you come out of this bigger better faster stronger. Cars will always be around - glad you will be around longer, too.
A little update. I'm doing pretty well. I've been trying to walk at least three miles a day. We've been taking a couple trips a week to Monterey/Pacific Grove/Carmel to walk along the coast where the weather is much milder.
On Monday I got fitted for a portable EKG unit that's about the size of a Matchbox car. I'll wear it for a month. If everything looks good over that month I'll be cleared to drive again.
Another update: I got cleared to drive again last week. My wife had a lot of apprehension about it but after a couple days she's back to letting me drive everywhere. We took the C8 out for a couple drives this week. It was warm enough (but not too hot) to take the top off for one of those drives.
We just got back from dropping our daughter off at college about 300 miles away. I drove about halfway there and back. We hadn't really gone out to eat since I got home. I'm supposed to cut back on salt, cholesterol and sugar. It's pretty berkeleying hard to find a decent meal that isn't a salad and I'm not really a salad guy. We wound up getting sandwiches a couple times for dinner.
The diet is helping though. I've lost another 5 pounds since I came home. I'm down 50lbs (20% body weight) since the HA.

Good for you, man, taking it seriously. It's so sad when someone gets a wakeup call and they end up hitting snooze.
Great update! Find some vegetables and figure out how to prepare them to reduce the need for sugar and salt.

We're making a lot of roasted broccoli, cauliflower and carrots with just a little olive oil and pepper.
We also like Brussels sprouts with olive oil/pepper then a olive oil, balsamic vinegar and honey drizzle.
I'm grilling chicken and salmon on almost a daily basis. We also use the chicken in salads and stir fry.
I've pretty much recovered from my heart attack. I've lost about 60 pounds and 4 inches off my waist. I'm walking/jogging about 3 miles and doing some light strength training 4+ days a week.
So, how about I use this thread to talk about my car again? ;^)
I've been driving my C8 almost daily for the last couple months. It really is a great car. I've made the decision that I probably won't be doing anymore track days though. So, I'm going to pull the AP Racing BBK and rear Girodisc 2 piece rotors off the car. There are a couple things I wanted to do to the car and that cash will come in handy.
First off, I like the open feel of driving with the roof off but at anything over 50mph the wind really buffets around the cockpit. Chevy makes a transparent roof panel but they are $2k through Chevy even when they are on sale. I found one on Corvette Forum and made a great deal on one though. It will be here on Saturday.
Second, I'm not in love with the black trident wheels. They were an upgrade over the stock 5 spoke wheels but I'm really tired of black wheels. I've been looking around and decided on a set of Apex VS-5RS in Anthracite. Their Black Friday sale started at 12AM yesterday morning. They had one set left in the color and sizes I wanted but their website was super slow and wouldn't let me add my payment information. I finally gave up at 12:30 and went to bed. I woke up at 5AM and tried again. This time it went through without a hitch. Today at 12:30PM the wheels showed up. It's supposed to rain for a week starting this Friday. So, tomorrow I'm going to put the car up on jackstands and start working. I'll get the tires on the stock wheels mounted on the new wheels, put the stock calipers and rotors back on the front, and put the stock rotors on the rear.
I've owned a few sets of aftermarket wheels but these are the first one's I've bought new and they are the first forged set I've owned. Funk! For as big as they are they are pretty damn light. The 20 x 11.5 rear wheels are 20.1 pounds.

Outstanding to hear your recovery going so well
And those wheels..... Mmmmm. Hot 🔥🔥🔥
I put the stock brakes, EOS splash guards, and Apex wheels on the car yesterday.
I really like lower offset and extra dish of the Apex wheels and the EOS splash guards are the perfect size for this setup. Overall it gives the car more of a Grand Sport feel.
I’ll miss the look of the AP Racing drakes but they are just overkill for the street. I’d also like to possibly run NASA SS class autocross next year and I’d need stock brakes to meet the class requirements.
My wife and I went to Sand City for an impromptu photo shoot with the C8 today. There are murals all over this area. We spent about 2 hours driving up and down every street in the area and checking them all out.
I think you need to find the artist and have this airbrushed onto your hood.
kidding of course, love the pics. My wife and i did a mural run in Charlotte a couple of weeks ago, and it was really cool.
You should get that tiger mural done as a wrap for the nose of the car. You can share the story that you have been physically reborn like the tiger and you wanted it on the car. Definitely also make out like it's painted. After the joke's over you can peel it off.
On a serious note, I'm so sorry to read about your heart attack and subsequent retirement from track days. I can tell from reading your posts that it was a real passion for you.
On the plus side, though, you're still alive to be mad about it. I just turned 54 and the number of guys in my age bracket who have died in the last few years is scary. I see now why they predict a "mid-life crisis". It's scary when you realize you will not live forever.
Back to the good stuff: the car looks fantastic and I love the wheels! All the best in your continued good health!

Retiring from track days is the right thing to do. I don't ever want to be in a hospital again and I definitely don't want to put my family through that again. I'm pretty passionate about every hobby that I get involved with. There are plenty of others that I can pour myself into though. My car is back to stock so if I decide to run AutoX here and there I can see where I stack up. I'm not planning to full seasons though.
Yep, I've seen a couple friends and cousins pass too soon. It makes me better appreciate the time I have.
Thanks. I'm really happy with the way the car came out. I think that I'm done upgrading it now.
Done with upgrading it? Everytime I say that, or everytime I buy a car and proclaim I'm not going to mod it.... Haha. My wife and daughter's cars are bone stock. My touareg has a tune and I've got a larger set of front brake calipers (OEM+ upgrade) I'm going to install. I think only car of mine that stayed relatively stock was my cayenne turbo s, it only had a set of secondary cat delete pipes. The 996 upgrades are definitely slowing down, I was basically done with it until the used GT2 front bumper popped up...

Up until 5-6 years ago I had never modified a car at all. Not even wheels. The Corvette came with a ton of stuff that would be options in a lot of other cars and it's already really fast for a street driven car. I may do little things here and there but I'd say that for all intents and purposes I'm done.
I changed the oil myself for the first time today at 19, 300 miles. The oil is hard to find so I ordered it off the river website. I got the filter at O'Reilly. It actually wasn't too bad. There's just enough room to shimmy my ass under the car when it's on the Jackpoint jack stands. The dealer tech really over tightened the drain plug (of course). I had to use a 1/2" breaker bar to crack it loose. Other than that it wasn't any harder than any other vehicle I've worked on. I prefilled the filter and then added 7 quarts to the sump. It wound up needing 1/2 quart to get it to the top of the range.
