Blasfamous - My 1JZ powered, 1949 Ford F-3

Hello all!

First post here, figured I'd introduce my mess of a project. This is Blasfamous, my ground up build. No fluff, no filler, lets get to it! 

The entire build process took 32 months from the day I started to the day I registered it in October. This project is the biggest one I've done in my tiny garage to date. Below is a list of all the parts that were implemented from other cars. Everything else is fabricated....sometimes twice since apparently I love making mistakes. All in all its been a huge learning experience but its proven worth it. We just had her featured in Super Street magazine and there are a few more publications in the works.

Toyota 1JZ GTE

Front end parts I plucked out of a nasty 53' trailer that an old man had sitting on his property. For as hard it was to pull these things out, I was not mad when he took $200 for everything. 

The doors were plucked from a farm on the north shore of long island. They look nice here....but didnt when they were under snow.

This is the cab after I took delivery. Yes, I built this truck in a tiny 1 car garage....I must like misery.

Ok, so now for the fun stuff. Build photos. I'm going to save you all the blah blah and post up pics with simple descriptions to keep it moving. So here we go... 

This is the very crude cad layout. Although the truck was pretty much built by "eyeball" the chassis needed to at least be laided out somewhere other than my head. Just for initial dimensions.

2x4x3/16 rectangular tube is the entire chassis makeup.

Speedholes because....well.....idunno. Note that the spikes have been deleted. Way too cheesy 

Cardboard Aided Drafting. This is the front bag top plate.

Bag top plates glued in. 

Another template. This is my panhard bar bracket.

The chop was probably the scariest thing I've ever done to a car. I've been a gear head since the early import days. Not only is this the oldest, but its the first car that I've chopped a top on.  Funny side note. When this project first started, all I had was a little tool box, a welder and a grinder. The workbench is actually the wood they sent the cab in. I tried to save money and materials throughout the whole project.

5-3/4" chop. Looks angry. Quick mockup showed me 2 things....First is that I love my engine choice. Second, I cant have a grille. Gotta show it. Hang tight. 

Well I'm excited. I like that the first entry on the fab list is "entire chassis."

"Reserved for updates", I don't think you pay more if you add more stuff on the forum.

'Patina' is an overused word when it comes to 'ratrods' (another overused word)...but those doors have it!

I hear you man. I promise you, no fake rust, no wannabe patina and all rat. 

That thing looks MEAN with that chop .  I can only imagine how nervous you had to be making the first cut.  It's quite inspiring to see you take on a scratch built chassis with such a humble tool collection.

I see you're out of "reserved for update" posts, I hope this doesn't mean you're out of pictures because watching you build this in that tiny garage blows me away.  I can't say "I have nowhere to work on stuff" anymore, I just have to finish cleaning my E36 M3 up!

Thanks man. Nervous is an understatement lol. 

The following updates will be new comments. I just wanted to get a bulk of them together in the beginning just so it was clear how the project started. 

I have to admit, the tiny garage isnt ideal but I've spent enough time working outside in the winter to know that any space is better than no space at all lol. 

Oh...and the E36 M3 has been on my list of dream cars since I was a teen. 

Great project. Btw, e36 m3 is what the forum prints when you type the brown smelly word.

Yea, I grew up working on stuff with no garage and a gravel driveway made of railroad stone (huge jagged rocks).  Even if I can't get stuff in my garage I'm just happy to have concrete to work on. 

lol, no E36 M3 for me, not really my style, I'm a Caddy guy and I DD a hearse so I generally lean towards larger vehicles.  I'd love to tear up some back roads in someone else's E36 M3 tho. 

"E36 M3" is the filter substitution for the S word on this forum, it can be a bit confusing sometimes.  I've been working to clean out all the crap I currently have in my 2 car garage so I can at least get one car in there again.

I keep going back to that last mockup pic above, it looks artsy (to my non artsy engineer eyes) with the old cab, different color doors, and the modern engine sitting there.  Any chance you have a larger version I could add to my backgrounds folder?

Cool. I've got a soft spot for the '48 to '50 Ford trucks. My father has a '48 F-4 dump truck and this fall we dragged a '49 F-6 out of the woods to strip down for parts to restore the F-4. 

Although it's destined to be cut up and parted out, part of me wants to do nefarious things with it.
