I suspect worn ignition. What year/make/model of car? I'm sure its nothing too modern considering that "starting by turning key" is becoming rather rare on new offerings.
What kind of car, make model year
My car does that. Keys fall out when I turn too hard. Ignition is mostly shot.
General Motors?
I've seen 80s and 90s Fords do this too. It's a bad key switch.
I had a BMW that did that. Part was a little expensive because it had to be keyed to match. Fix was easy, required a bobby pin applied in the right spot.
