Yeah, sorry. I just wasted a few hours reading that whole thread, and while it is epically sized, there is no "build" going on. I counted seven popped motors by the guy! Cool idea, great work ethic, non-existent engineering.

Sure... no big deal. I'll just shorten it.

seriously
Some really strange choices and ideas... and plenty of money to spend in weird places... but dang.. very interesting.
This may not qualify as "epic", in that there is no rear mounted LSx or anything, but this probably resonates with many on here who are interested in building a track rat in their garage. This is a Mk2 Golf build by someone in the UK to drive on the Nurburgring. No affiliation, just stumbled across this on VWVortex.
Unfortunately I found that you do have to register for the site to view this. I thought it was worth it.
Not everything in this build is done the same way a pro shop would do it, more shadetree than pro.

Not sure if this RWD Jetta racecar from the vortex ever made it into this thread...builder hasnt posted an update since January, but its still a badass thread!

CNC Pr0n anybody?
bumping this...not sur eif it belongs in the build threads section since a majority are from other boards, but thought it ought to go there personally. If others agree, Mods, please move this thread
You guys are gonna love this, the most pointless engine swap ever.
Take one Miata, remove the perfectly good Mazda engine and manual trans to replace it with a late 70’s early 80’s Ford Essex V6 and auto box!! Sourced from a Reliant Scimitar at that!!!
Dan [sac] of "FrankenProbe" fame strikes again!

sweet jesus...Dans selling the RWD PGT...before it ever moves an inch under its own power? I am the kind of guy who has a hared time parting with a car...ever. I miss my 90 cavalier and 95 Corolla, and those were beat-to-death daily's that I couldnt afford to fix anymore. I could bever imagine selling a project. Ever...let alone, one executed so cleanly, before I even finished it.
does not compute
