This is a continuation of my "I want to do a fly and drive thread" from the last few months.
The trip went off just fine but there were some hurdles. First off, I had a car lined up to buy. Done deal. It's all set up. Meet at noon. My plane arrives at 1030 at SeaTac airport. Stepson picks me up at 1030 at the airport. We get in the car and text the guy that we are on the way (to Tacoma). "Not a good day for me" he says. You piece of E36 M3. Fortunately my step son foresaw this level of flake coming (having been the middle man between me and the dude) and he was able to put me together with a contingency car to save the fly and drive concept. So, to the the stupid Army kid at the base there in Tacoma who screwed me around after I flew into town, I hope karma repays you somehow. I wound up getting a fine car in the end anyway.
It's the finest Corolla appliance that I could ever dream of.
And, by the way, Seattle is damned awesome. Stepson wants me and the wife to move up there from Texas. I got to say, he's not crazy. I'd have considered it had I not seen Coeur d'Alene on the trip home. I'm infatuated with Idaho now but that's a story for a different time.

Dare I ask what the target species was before it went south?
$800 Corolla?!
That's a $3-5k Corolla near me.
In reply to John Welsh :
I went back and edited that. The low buy in price sounds good but there was more to the story with the guy I bought it from. I don't want to lend the impression that I am brilliant at buying cheap cars, as I am not. That's the reason I never have fooled with the Challenge event.
Be safe, I was hoping for the wrx Soobarryou......when you get home come get my '91 ext cab 5.7l 5sdp short bed and do your magic .....wink
Is the trip finished? What route did you take or are you taking?
Flying to Seattle myself in July. I'd love to buy a car and drive it back. Doubt it will happen, but maybe?
I'm game .....yo Cousin_E what up on this?
Lol, I live an hour or so north of CDA.
Idaho is a great place but it's changing kinda fast too. For years everyone made fun of how terrible Idaho was but now it's been found

I'm 2 hours south of Seattle and am more than happy to facilitate fly and drives!
