The flat bars appear to be there to give a progressive rate, so that not all the leaves are active until the suspension compresses a certain amount.

I think you need something bigger than those subcompacts you got posted there. I hear Britain is getting rid of an aircraft carrier.....
There is something similar to this (with a contractor box on the back) sitting off the side of I-86 in NY. This build has made me think bad thoughts and try to justify a reason to own one.
Damn, why did I have to see this thing? This brute is awesome, jokingly showed this to SWMBO and her first comment was "I'd drive the hell out of that!" Second comment, "oh wait... I couldn't drive that in town, I'd seriously be tempted to run someone over if they cut me off."

That's not an issue, they just don't cut you off
Fab up a Road Armor esq front bumper/Roo bar and I'd be willing to bet the thought would never enter their mind.
That being said, I've priced em. There is one near by that has a Cummins diesel and manual trans for double challenge money. Could sell the work box bed and prob pick up a dually bed cheap. Ugh, bad things man, this thread is AWESOME!
Oh and I'll add this, Someone would deffinately cut you off in this thing in Gainesville. They're berkeleying IDIOTS! Big behemoth like that and they'll decide they want to be first at the next light, who gives a crap how big the vehicle they just cut off to get there is.
I love this truck!
It would be fun to put a button or switch to manually turn on the back-up lights and to sound a reverse beeper. Then when at a long traffic light hit the switch and watch the subcompact driver behind you panic.
I figure a nice set of fog lights on the front bumpers will annoy the heck out of virtually anyone stupid enough to pull tricks in traffic on Big Red there.
ClifFord now has a working clutch and a non-vented oil pan, FTW.
Damn, having a working clutch changes a few things, like 1st gear, wow.
In south eastern MA there's a white Ford twin to that at a boat repair place and I've seen the Chevy version at a car show and a beautiful yellow Chevy nearby.
There's a Dodge from VT I've seen at the jamboree in Essex Jct.
Pretty sure I need one too!
I know this falls under "if you have to ask you can't afford it" umbrella but what's the mileage on that beast? Sorry if its been asked/answered already!
It is improving with the single speed rear, a new clutch and some tuning going on, I haven't done a proper test but it was around 9, I am thinking around 10 to 11 now.
I haven't sorted the exhaust and given him a tune yet either
Remember this is a manual gasser
Thats actually not that bad, current CC 4x4 dually 1 ton trucks are nearly that now.
I am assuming my IH is a featherweight though.....
My 78 CC dually is 6700 with nothing but me in it, but it has been dramatically lightened by way of rust...
That's it? My "1 ton" shuttle bus with an empty 16 foot open deck trailer is 13,000, according to the scrapyard scale.
In reply to kcbhiw:
I would be surprised if his entire front end wasn't fiberglass, and it has a bbf.....so that probably weighs half as much as the ford industrial diesels.
