Your rendering is really cool. But why nit involve the autistic young man? Sit down with him and let him design the race livery on "his" race car. Then go to Lowe's or HD and buy gloss latex house paint and some brushes. Tape off windows and trim and let him paint it from his renderings. Might suprise you as many autistic kids have artistic talent. The latex paint will likely wash off with a pressure washer.

That is a good suggestion, however unfortunately Aaron is on the low functioning end if the Autism spectrum. He has a limited vocabulary and comunicates mostly thru a modified sign language. He also has a very short attention span, so we might get him to do one fender, before he desided it was too much work and gets bored. Aaron functions best in a supervisory capacity, to which he is very happy with... things get done, but he doesn't have to do them 
.
We are going to involve him as much as we can, and he is excited that I am going to fix the door he dented, whne he figured out how to get his moms car into gear when it was idling.
Also I did an illustration of Aaron and the Lincoln to put on a T-shirt for his birthday
It is something we started a couple years ago, making him custom shirts. They are something special just for him, and if he destroys them they are easy to replace.
Oh!.. side note, the paint scheme is a riff on the AMC SC/rambler scheme (which is one of my favorites). Also I can get left over paint in those colors from work

Have you thought about involving some autism charity in your effort.? Anything to get these kids involved in mainstream activities, as if a Grassroots challenge build is a mainstream activity LOL, is great.
Well it has been a little while since I have checked in. Not much has changed... I have been using the Lincoln as a Daily off and on, while working on the Vette.
I did hit our local semi-annual swap meet this weekend and picked up what I believe to be wheels with the correct offset and some 4 piston racing brake calipers that I hope I can make work on the front.
Intake is still up in the air... apparently the 400M 4 barrel motors and 2 barrel motors use different cylinder heads, making swapping intakes even more of a challenge. I have an idea, but it's going to require me to learn to TIG weld. We will call that a 'winter project'
Picking stuff up today I gathered some of what I have collected so far.
I think I have Ovid_and_Flem's first timers advice of 'stick with what you know, and don't go over board' down pretty good here!
This coming weekend is my regions last autocross for the year. I am going to take the Lincoln and if I got the wheel fitment right, and I can get them mounted, I might see what those Hoosier G60 dirt tires do on pavement
In the meantime. I stuck a couple extra 7s I had from RXNATS on the doors to mess with everyone. Our freind's son Aaron saw this:
Pointed at the door and let out the most entertaining laugh! His dad was also amused muchly. Aaron is still asking when we are going to paint it. We keep telling him it will be this spring, as will most of the transformation due to the fact of thing not fitting in the garage.
Hopefully after Sunday I will have more pics and video to share.

So as promised, I ran the lincoln in the last Autocross of the season. The course was short and pretty open... great for sailing a yacht. I played with leaving the transmission in second and then first, due to the fact the factory shift points are less than optimal. My last run I was even starting to spin the tires coming out of the corners, but also must have starved the motor of oil for a moment as it developed a lifter 'tick'. That thankfully went away and everyone seemed to enjoy watching so it was a good day.

I may have a 351M 4bbl intake, and Holley in the garage I could cut a deal on. I'll take a picture when I get home.
That's one of those vehicles that makes a whole lot of noise not making much forward progress.

Funny story,
One of the guys in our region, was running his WRX (that he also rallycrosses). He is a riot to hang out with, and he kept giving me a hard time with comments like "so, how is your boat?"
I said "Ride along and find out"

After the run we got out and I showed Eric the scrub marks all the way onto 'goodyear' on the side walls. An older gentleman driving the Lotus, comes over, inspects what we are laughing about and states "you NEED more tire pressure! Thats your problem."
To which Eric laughs and says I don't think that's the ONLY problem"
As far as times... I was slow, but I have had a few people say my lines looked good considering I was piloting an 'aircraft carrier'
