The AR5 (imho) is a really good transmission. It supposedly can handle big horsepower. It shifts crisply with very positive engagement. Only real mod I had to make to mine (which came out of a Colorado) was to the shift mechanism to bring the shifter forward to work in the tiny Bugeye Sprite cockpit. Very simple mod; basically I scrapped the entire external shifter, and built an adapter to drop straight down into the transmission. Then curved the shifter forward (a'la the old Cobra's). Works great.

Third gear is their weakness, why they stopped putting them in the 5 cylinder trucks, but if it's in a light vehicle it would probably be fine.
