So you have a 323 GTX and this Impreza hmm? My impulse supposedly has a similar rear suspension as the Mazda, and I've been test fitting 94 Subaru suspension as well. I need to find something that fits my car since there are, quite literally, zero replacement rear struts in the world for me. I was tracing KYB part numbers and I believe the GTX struts are within single increment serial digits from mine. Might I bother you for a couple of quick shock body measurements? Specifically around the lower mounts. Distance between the bolts and the width between the ears of the mount.

I had to use my digital license plate as the analog one wouldn't fit in the available space (at least one person will get that).

Width between the ears is 26mm.

Distance between the bolts is approximately 56mm. I verified by measuring from the top of one bolt to the top of the other and from center to center on the bolt heads (as close as I could eyeball) so it should be reasonably close.

When I converted Subaru rear struts to work on the front of the RX-7, part of the serendipity (besides having a $50 pair of Koni Yellows) was that Mazda and Subaru knuckles are the same width.  The bolt pattern was different so I had to play around with extending the ears, but recollection from working on a lot of BG chassis cars suggests that Subarus are a "taller" bolt pattern than the front drive Mazdas, so you could redrill Subaru struts to work instead of cutting and splicing dead strut bodies to make an extended ear arrangement.  Or you might have to do that anyway since Subaru struts are really, really tall.

No idea how many lps the bolts are apart.

As a fellow Impreza owner I approve!  EJ22 manual AWD here. Keep it up. If you ever d3cide to gut it I'd like to scoop some panels. Good luck and have fun!

This is huge thanks! My 94 Legacy rear strut is a hair wider than my Impulse hub, where a shim could fill the gap, and as Knurled found, the bolt spacing is taller. Redrilling is possible, but I'd prefer it as close as possible since lots of parts are available. You da man.
