That's a good looking 'vette. My wife has always referred to this generation of vettes as "Schwoop Schwoop's" - because that's how she describes the body lines
Looking forward to following along on this one. My grandpa had a 78 I dreamed of doing similar things to, but he ended up junking it before I could get to it.

Like the C3 but more interested in whats in the back of your buddy's shop. Please enlighten.
Do you mean the 64 Sting Ray convertible or the 74 Ambro? Or the fan in the window he uses when painting to draw air from the shop?
I thought the red and white was a Dio Tipo, never heard of an Ambro, now I know some history. would have never guessed the other was a Sting Ray. Looks like he is mocking up a modified top. Its fun to play guessing games with half covered cars.
Not mocking up a top. Kinda being used as a storage shelf right now.
He also runs a 1959 Formula Junior OSCA. He retired early and just plays with cars. To quote, "everyday is Saturday."
Progress. After taking intake back off as I forgot to install the oil drain pan to the underside, we put the engine in place. With removal of old engine discovered it was held in place with Moroso solid mounts. Since it never bothered me we reused them.
Next up was to slip the trans up to it and get that in place. Then modify the center cross member to accept the 4l60e rear mount. Done.
Now it awaits a trip back to my garage. Only thing left to do is everything.
Yeah, that's snow flying!
I've never tried to drive a c3 in the snow.
Take video of the test drive.
And Good luck!

No snow trips for this one. Hoping to be ready this spring.

I too will be following along.
Are the picture links working for anyone else?
Nope. They seem to be gone.
So I finally got out to the garage and started clearing things out so I can make a plan of action to finish this car. Or at the very least get it running. I've been contemplating what to do about exhaust. I have headers from my L48 and have been lead to believe they won't match the ports on the 95 LT1 heads. So I took some pics. They look awfully close. Was thinking of doing a rubbing to compare shape and size.
Grab both gasket sets at the parts store. Compare on counter. Then decide.
I do this kind of thing ALL. THE. TIME.
Hadn't thought of that. I have LT1 exhaust gaskets actually. They are shaped like a capital D lying on its straight edge. Odd.
The image at lower left is exhaust port in green with gasket in thin black line. Other is header opening in green. Does it really matter if the header opening is larger, towards the bottom (it's upside down on the paper), than the exhaust port? Would I have leaking issues? Interestingly, the ports in the head are more like rounded squares than D shaped.
I think you will be fine. Theres enough meat for a good seal.
How do the mounting holse line up, and port spacing?
Port spacing is same. Ports line up as do mounting holes for studs with the lt1 using the outer holes on the head at each end as opposed to the holes right next to the outer ports. The header flange matches the holes closer to the ports. Should be okay.
