The body has been permanently attached since Easter. The only question was wether the doors would fit.....
Ain't no going back now though!!!
At this point, its truly a coin toss between the purple and blue.
I dig them both.
Next steps are grinding down a lot of welds, priming bare steel, seam sealing. 1/4 round stock rear wheelwells, closout panels on rear quarters interior side. Closeout panels rocers. Add boomtubes to exhaust and cut rockers. Make jack points.
Then, trying to anticipate all the tabs, brackets, and other welded pieces that need to be done. Do so, blow apart to clean and paint everything again.
That seems like a lot of work.
$45 got me a steel passengers fender i can use.
Unfortunately there just won't be enough fender left for glass to be viable. Ill even have to reinforce the steel ones to make them survive....

Steve makes everthing look easy... :)

Albemarle has cheap real estate compared to most of the world.
Maybe get out of debt in the process?

Whichever color you decide please add some graphics. Like "RT" side stripes in silver or light grey and a tail stripe in engine color. The RT could be TT 1 or whatever class your running. On the tail stripe the cu. at the body line. Matched with hood stripes.
In reply to BarryNorman :
I was planning stripes like the 340 cars, but i like the nubers/class callouts being integrated in! Thats an amazing idea! Thank you!
Trying to make forward momentum on this despite having way too much to do. 15 minutes a day has seen me finish the rough portwork on the intake, begin polishing, and refinish all the ignition parts.
Its not much.
Man I can't wait to read this thread backwards now. LOL I just "inherited" a mostly complete Gen 6 car. I am going with the regular NASCAR Dodge Charger body if I can find the rest of the pieces. Going to swap in a 318 storker (396).
good enough for who it's for.
Have to make a throttle body gasket and cable bracket, and figure out vacuum plumbing.
I finally touched it again!!!
It seems like i may be able to free up a solid weekend or two soon. Actually work on something i WANT to do, instead of something i HAVE to do. Gotta fix the minivan first, and theni can schedule some time on this. Maybe even get the rear bumper crash tubes made, and the doors to stay shut!
this aluminum driveshaft is frigging HUGE in diameter. But weighs nothing.
Is there a reason not to shorten and use it? It clears everything at ride height, and i don't think drooo travel will cause any contacts.
Absolutely reuse the aluminum driveshaft. Just get a SKILLED welder to do the end cap/u-joint then rebalance. The diameter is for torque resistance. These typically see 9000 rpm and are able to hold back more torque than you are likely to throw at it.
