Finally put a battery in it and fired it for the first time since 6/28/23

Clutch slave is bad, mice have chewed major electrical issues, and it leaks fuel onto the header like a motherberkeleyer.

Not the night i had planned. I just wanted to test fit the nb2 seats and widebody kit to see if they're keepers.

Its officially a major overhaul project now.

Wonder if i can make it eligible for a challenge rerun, only better this time?

But then, do i sell you my nitrous kit?

Im really starting to get the wheels turning. It's going to be a long time coming though. Naskart needs more progress, customer stuff, etc.

But planning starts now.

Im gonna have to hunt a lot down, but getting the build book back this weekend makes it plausible.

From memory, so take this with a shaker of salt, the 3400 itself was $75 from Patrick with the stock la1 ecu and harness. Sinister tuned it for 125.

Somehow adding fluid to the reservoir, loading it on my tow dolly backwards and dragging it to my folks place to get it out of the way while we do some earthwork on my property made the clutch work again at least for one drive around the test Loop. I'll take the win where I can get it.

Dude.  Call me if you wanna swap the engine.  There are other ways to make hp too.

Bring it back.

Battle of the 60 degree swapped v6s.

Mine will be the same speed, just more comfy.

What's the challenge and moral limits to ripping that tune off of that ecu and flashing onto another if we change a couple parameters?

Challenge: its absolutely fine to buy a $30,000 tool to make a $10 clone of a $100 part and put it in the budget at $10

Moral: thats..... a good question. Let me sleep on that.

Also, things are afoot. Stay tuned. And if you know what tjose things may be, keep your mouth shut until i go public please.

We call it B.A.R.T. - the big ass red truck

What yall are looking at is svrex wrecked turbo six speed nb, and a bed load of parts. 2500 bucks total.

Pretty sure that the green miata is going turbo miata based again, and making another challenge run.

Gotta get home, and get everything cataloged and i spected and tested before any firm decisions are made.

I have to admit my final drive in her today wasn't easy. She's one of the best cars I've ever owned, and one of the fastest.

Give her a good home.

There's a lot more. Flyin Miata turbo setup, Megasquirt, built motor, full set of Ohlin coilovers, Brembos...

Michael's got a plan.

Yes there's a full update coming in the next few days. And I have a general plan. We all know no plan ever survives first Contact, but by God I have a plan! I'm about halfway home from Alabama right now posting via talk to text from a traffic jam. 3 hours of sleep last night and I've got to get two buildings emptied at a tree removed and a few other things done before the earth mover show up first thing Monday morning. So do not expect great things out of me today or tomorrow concerning turbo Miata goodness

So, I bought svrex’s wrecked turbo six speed NB

https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/cars-sale/2000-hardtop-miata-nb-mild-built-engine-with-fm2-6/174429/page1/

the reason this car is in my driveway is that the Miata dad and I built, though an absolute blast to drive, is way too far to the race car side of things for me to use as much as id like. Additionally, it needs serious reworking at this time due to wear, tear, hack job repairs, and improper storage. Essentially, any way I go with my green car at this point starts at a bare tub and goes up from there. This car gets me a lot of civility and stock parts back, the ability to fit AC/cruise/stock gauges, nice coil overs, uneaten wiring, and the list goes on. This is aside from the obvious drivetrain stuff.

The plan at this time is to scab together some temporary front structure to hold what’s left of the frame rails apart, ratchet strap a radiator in there, stuff in some fashion of intercooler piping, and see what happens. I want to make sure all systems are healthy and operational before taking it apart. That way I know a baseline of what im working with, and I can also drive both cars back to back around the block to compare the drivetrains and make certain that the turbo six speed is the right decision for my soul. My gut says it is, but need to test regardless. My gut has led me to gas station sushi more than once after all.

So, anyway, onto the car.

It was wrecked. HARD. Im glad svrex wasn’t busted up worse than he was. Both rails are bent up and over, as well as pushed in. car is vaguely banana shaped now as well judging by the damage to the hardtop and the door gaps. It bent the right front wheel, broke the left rear, caved in the drivers quarter to contacting the tire, changed the shape of the windshield surround….

The car has a ton of good parts on it, and came with a ton more. It has ohlins coilovers (drives front is suspect. Adjustment knob broken off. Hopefully I can make do or have it repaired economically). Also in the same area are a garett turbo, flyin miata turbo manifold and downpipe, some form of blowoff valve.

On the driver’s side is this funky manifold.im sure its not stock, but im not sure of it’s the variable runner one it should be for a 99

20240526_111732 by Michael Crawford, on Flickr

Inside the car came with an AEM ecu, AEM wideband, Pioneer NAV head unit, hard dog roll bar, mint black leather seats, an aluminum shift knob, and some sort of rubber floor mats that are shaped with Velcro backs that I want to find more of for every car I own. Car also only has 137k on the odometer.

Body wise, I have two good doors that are straight and rust free, most of the small body kit minus one rocker long piece and the front lip, a perfect decked and factory spoiler. And a good passengers taillight. The soft top is flawless, and the hard top is going to need a ton of work, which will be its own post and thread. I really want to save it, and save it soon.

I’m not sure what else is underneath. I know an aftermarket exhaust, but the dual outlet muffler didn’t survive the wreck. I also know no sway bars bolted on. Has a 3.9 torsen according to svrex and the PO before him. It came with three TRM C1s and nearly new, though date coded 2019 continental extreme contact sports in 205/50/15. One rota slipstream with a shot rt615 bolted to the car, two more loose. And a full set of diamond 13x8 steelies and shot hoosier slicks.

Now, onto the extras that came with the car. Theres an ac condenser, pile of sway bars, MSPNP of unknown anything, a coil on plug conversion, Mazda competition engine mounts new in bag, new wheel bearing and rotor, new driveshaft, fuel cell, some silicone elbows and hoses, steering column, kick panels, new PS pressure hose, extra visors, spare/jack/etc, extra airbag module, brake master and booster, intake manifold assembly labeled 1996 Miata, seat tracks, and more.

Lastly, he included a COMPLETE set of brake and fuel lines. All of them. All the metal, hardlines, clips, nylon pieces, evap parts, all of it that I cut out of my green car. The green car will be rebuilt around these lines.
