I stuck the other switch in the temporary dash.  When we make the real dash, that switch will get moved to a better place. Haven't run any of the wires for it yet

I also started working on the replacement brackets for the logo lights that will be controlled by that switch

Thank you.  My sister is cutting the vinyl for the images, and I will probably see her in two weeks

One option I thought of recently is to have several interchangeable lenses so I can change logos for different events.

BTW, I can now power up the switch and lights with alligator clip leads

I took a wire wheel to the inside of the Dakota frame rail and rattle canned the surface with white appliance paint.

If you're wondering why the paint is white, it's because folks over on the HAMB claim painting the inside of light buckets white makes them look brighter than silver or chrome paint.  Since I am now using the inside of the frame rail like a light bucket...

Parking light and Logo light both being controlled by switches on dash. Still temporary wiring with alligator clip leads.

All that just got put on the back burner. Those wires are shoved into the frame horn to keep them out of the way the turn signals and headlights are hooked up again.... Not the way I want, but at least they are functional.

I had to get the car on the road again because my sister-in-law wants to take photos of it for her photography class.  Honestly, I don't mind the interruption in the lens project;. I haven't been able to drive her for around 2 months, and it felt really good just to run down to the gas station and back.Dad followed me to the gas station.  I wanted an escort since the car hadn't been driven in a while, but she ran just the same as she did before the interruption to create lenses.   He took this picture while I was getting gas.

I didn't realize how askew the headlights were after I had been screwing with the wiring.  The lights have been aimed better in preparation for tomorrow's photo shoot.

Better food than you would expect from any gas station. The chicken and corn chowder is lovely

I still need to finish the wiring and make some changes to the sheet metal, but my sister has done the lenses and they look pretty good

If you haven't been following  maschinenbau's build of a 2jz powered model A pickup, you should be

He's currently in paint prep, and it reminded me of a paint related detail on my car that I thought was funny.

My '32 replica had just been moving under its own power for a few weeks, and one of my Dad's friends saw some photos on the book of faces.  He was meaning to be complimentary when he said that it would look nice after I had painted the car flat black, but I was annoyed.  It's probably because I had been planning the tan and brown (museum-like) paint for years at that point......anyway, I dealt with the comment in an amusingly reactionary manner.

I bought a quart of rustoleum leather brown, then took a brush and painted the rolled bead that is on the cowl and along the top of the body all the way around.  This gave me the opportunity to say, "but she is painted" if anyone said that again.

Are you going to do anything about the chassis droop in the rear? Maybe better springs out back or dropping the front to match? Looks pretty awkward from the side . . .

Great idea! Trees were already up by this time in 2020, but I think we should do that next year just for the photo op.  smiley

I now have seat grommets and five point harnesses to install.  most of the mounting hardware is here, but I'm waiting on some extra longseat belt mounting eye bolts from summit.

I'm also swamped with stuff that needs to get done at work, so I'm honestly not sure if this will get done in time.  The goal was to try and have belts in before SVRA's Spring event at Sebring.  We aren't racing, obviously, but I'm registered to park with the cool kids at the Haggerty's Cars and Caffeine.  This is part of hoping that I can participate.

Well, those seat grommets from summit don't work well on thick Geo tracker seats.  I can't get the front grommet and the rear grommet close enough to snap together. That means I am probably going to have to buy replacement seats to hide the unsightly hole I just punched through the headrest on the passenger side.

Grrrr.....

Went to Daytona this weekend. I knew nobody would be there, but we had to stop anyway for a photo op at grm world headquarters.

One of the local car shows in the area has started up again.  We didn't make it to last month's show - the first since the start of the pandemic - but we did go to yesterday's show.

Driving back home occured after sundown, and much to my surprise, the lighting on the speedometer has started working again

The new seats are here.  I think they will be a nice looking change from the junkyard seats I have been using and, obviously, they will work with the belts.

Those will look great!  Don't forget that your harness should go over your shoulders and  through the holes straight to the bar without hitting the seat.
you might need to add a harness bar.

I appreciate the heads up.  We definitely want to be safe, so please let me know if you think this won't work.

I think we are okay.  When @trikchop built my rollbar, he put  one right about shoulder level.

I just took a selfie showing where my shoulders and that bar are with the current geo seats.

I will need to build adapters for the new seats so they can be bolted the chassis tubes using the existing mount points, and I can probably raise or lower the seats slightly at that stage.

These are the instructions that came with the belts
