it was a good day. Not massively productive, but good. Drivers door rebuilt, front suspension in finger tight, parts cleaned, painted, and ready. At the flaps turning rotors now. Then icecream

I I didn't think you could get this sort of thing done anymore. O'reilly's, eh?

Just because they have the machine doesnt mean there will be someone there that knows how to use it. If they know you well enough its possible to get them to let you do it yourself
Jims right. O'Reilly has the machine. but only two guys know how to use it. Im the guy that taught the store manager when it showed up a few years ago. Actually worked at the store for a year or two part time, and am one of their regulars. Hell, they occasionally call me for tech support on really oddball stuff.
So, yes some stores do it still. Our town has napa and orielly still.

Not trying to be a buzzkill, just a warning as i have seen rotors come out nearly slotted that didnt start off that way. Id hate for a rare or expensive part to get damaged
We had a brake lathe at the junkyard I used to work at. Also, a huge belt sander for "machining" cylinder heads. I'd like to buy one of each in an ideal world. Nice to have access to tools to do things the old way.
Ultimately i want drilled and slotted rotors for this car. However, they would count in budget due to being an "upgrade". I don't have the budget for it. So, making stock stock rotors flat, smooth, and painted was the correct halfway point for this.
I look at slotted and drilled rotors as poser rotors. They have a tendency to crack and brake with track use.
Most track cars use good solid blanks.

I completely agree. Anything that sees prolonged heavy brake use should NOT use drilled and slotted rotors. Failure looking for a place to happen. If this car gets more than street and autocross use, ill be shocked, to be honest.
However, they look cool behind an open wheel. Which is the whole reason for the want for this car......

Same! And then i get to decide which set! Hard decision. Kosei k1, or polished rota slipstreams, or white rota slipstreams??
And i need to decide wether to go with the frog eye gauge pod, or the pillar? Either is period correct.....

First, i just want to say i LOVE this car. It brings back memories of my first car (Base 95 auto w/ grey bumpers) and the freedom that meant. My wife still laughs at me when i tell her that i can't be held responsible if i buy a first gen ACR without asking.
Secondly, I think the pillar was the more common mod for what its worth.
Just wanted to say that this is one of my favorite threads on GRM right now.... what you're doing is awesome! Excited to see it as a roller here soon.

Oh I sang it loud!
I've loved the K1 forever. Never actually owned a set, but to me it just screams late 90's performance. Always wanted a set for my FC.
