I really like the of the DOHC cover, and the car is looking good.

Ive tried that in the past, and its always yellowed and gotten oxidation under the clear. Is there a trick im missing?
I can't speak to the durability 2+ years out because I tend to not keep stuff around that long. But I haven't had that problem.
Wish I could help. The parts car destructo-day looked like fun, and chances to actually hang out with people are rare and cherished these days. I did get to go to the beach and ride motorcycles with a buddy all last weekend, but working on cars with friends is somehow more rewarding
Edit: maybe because we had helmets on and didnt talk much?!?

Yes. And side by side with a common goal is much more socially rewarding than time together by yourself.
Scott and pete: thanks!! Munchkin is an awesome kid. She is bouncy by nature, so the video is a little rough. Shes also still learning that stuff, but is way ahead of me. Shes doing a merit badge on video! She did say no fire. She was in charge of the fire extinguisher if things went bad, as well as camera.
Not a bad lunch break!
In reply to Dusterbd13-michael (Forum Supporter) :
Did you let her practice with the fire extinguisher? With real fire???
Because you should. And you should be the camera-man for that!
Congrats on the first start and lack of a fire. Munchkin makes your videos by adding the color commentary........
Your dear daughter ROCKS!!!! you and your dear wife ARE TRULY BLESSED!!!! be safe be sane and love your neighbor as yourself.....peace out
Thank you all!
This weekends goal is bleed brakes, fill fluids, complete cooling system and ac lines, and let idle until the fan comes on. Maybe even move around under its own power.
Thats in addition to honeydo list and getting the miata ready for next weekend.
Dunno if I will get it all done, but the list keeps shrinking!
What's your procedure for starting an engine for the first time?
You have a check-list you follow or anything?
In reply to TVR Scott (Forum Supporter) :
No real checklist.
Ensure starter and ignition work.
Add fresh fuel, brigh up to operating pressure to check for leaks.
Unplug ignition and fuel pump, spin with starter until oil pressure builds.
Check for leaks.
Pull the pin.
If im breaking in a cam, i do the full cooling system as well.
