Haha, why is the love irrational?
That's what I said!
Yup. Between being a mopar guy, not liking yellow much, and not feeling the late 60s ford styling on the midsize/fullsize, its irrational.
But this car just freaking WORKS visually.
They're pretty tough so hopefully no issues. The good thing is if you do need something, there are scads of companies building parts for 9" Ford differentials.

At this point I hope it checks out. I’m going to blow it apart before bringing it in. I don’t trust myself on this kind of a rebuild
Just confirming what you probably already know:
I see a "10 x 37" marking. You can count the teeth on the pinion (probably 10 of them) and count the number of teeth on the Ring (probably 37) an divide the two resulting in 3.70. YES confirmed.
Rear end is in the truck. Dropping it off tonight. Once that is done motor, trans and column away from ripping.
Got the rear upper control arm replaced. Then I realized i put it in up side down. Took it back out and put back in the right way.
Test fit the heads. Time to start thrashing.
Got the timing chain put on. Heads torqued on. Did some test fitting. Next thing is to measure pushrods and get them on order.

As long as it rotates the earth when I hit the gas I don’t care what it looks like!
I’m going to run fi tech fuel injection on this. I would like the fi tech to control everything so there is one computer doing the thinking. The msd two wire units all say that you need to use a msd external cdi box. Do I have to?
In reply to Dusterbd13-michael : well poop. I was really wanting to get away from two computers telling the motor what to do.
Not sure about fitech, but megasquirt tells the box when to fire. Box just sets dwell and triggers the coil.
My recommendation would be to get it up and running fuel only first and then add ignition control and everything is sorted out
In reply to Dusterbd13-michael : I will be hitting you up when my tko gets here. That install scares me
Rear end should be done Wednesday at the machine shop. Need to get the rear brake configuration figured out and on order. It will be a roller again very soon.
Rear end is done and picked up. Should be going back in this week. Once its back in I will measure everything for the rear brake kit. Question on wiring. Can i just buy a new fuse panel with new style fuses? The glass fuses keep corroding even after cleaning them and the terminals. A whole new wiring harness sounds like a great idea until I think about how much needs to come back apart again. Kinda stuck on what to do.
Go all new. Yes, its a big job, but really only the seats, console and dash need to comeapart. I rewirecomplete cars often.
