Got the heads off and there is a chip or dent in the edge of the head that allowed the gasket to blow. so the quick fix is another head . the epoxy on this one didn't work and I won't waste any time with it, the heads are very cheap.

On the Plus Side, there sure are a Bunch of nice parts on this car. It should clean up easy enough .

What engine is in this?

Basically, any engine fits in a fiero from what I hear....

If i remember right, its a 3.4 with a 3100 top end swap

yes it's a Camaro 3.4 with a Buick 3.1 top end they are aluminum and flow a little better than the Iron heads. it appears that one head is damaged , there is a pair of 3400 heads on CL for 100. bucks so I may check them tommorow. At this Point of what I can do with a 3.4,  that is according to the Internet ,  I should go with a complete 3.5 or the 3.9 the deal here being weight, and at only about 50lbs. more the Caddy Northstar looks really good,  they can make 300 hp easy naturlly .  Honestly,   I am going to just put on some heads and Go.

The engine is a Piece of cake.   This is a Thought out, WELL Built Car, I Consider myself Lucky, It Just Slipped through the Cracks and Landed in MY Lap.  An Older Build, But It Is A Built Car .

Im trying to figure out what a buick 3100 is.  I thought the baby buick was a 3300 based on the Buick 3800.  In other words, no relation to the 60 degree V6.  How do you put Buick heads on a 60 degree V6?  Do they bolt on?  Or are these heads from a GM60 deg V6 3.1L engine?

If they 3.1 (60 deg v6) heads, this becomes simple.   They just bolt on.

If you are pulling the engine, 3400 and 3500 engines are cheap!  You could just drop a 3400 in and use all of the same stuff you already have and gain about 25 hp right away.

I bet you can find a 3400 engine for 100 to 150$ complete.

I Think the 3800 is a 90 degree engine also wether or not, front or rear wheel drive,  they have Iron heads  then all the 60 degree sizes swap a majority of parts. from the 2.8 up.

now a camaro 3.4 and a BOP 3400 are similar,   big visual is the starter on a chevy  is oppisite side of a FWD Car but by re locating starter chevy can be used in a FWD. the chevy uses the same iron heads as the early FWD cars and Fiero's, and 3.1 and up FWD have better ports plus are aluminum so make a good swap.

I think the 3400 is better still than the 3100 and are aluminum,   I also believe I read the 3500 and 3900 have better heads still, but somewhere in there the VVT is used and I don't want to fool with that right now

None of this Matters,  The head is fine, I was Cleaning parts for paintn'  decided to clean the head real good and the epoxy was I Guess some sort of Stop gap measure because it was all on the side of the head right where a leak was in the Damaged head Gasket. so still need some Gasket's but parts are getting Painted Other Than Black.

this could be a blessing keeping it all a proven entity,  Not Changing  just refreshing

All correct.  I have a 3400 in my rx7.

The non vvt 3500 heads can be used on a 3400.  That is the lx9 engine.

Just plop some new head gaskets on there and make sure you use the problem solver intake gaskets.  The stock ones suck and degrade quickly.

Yeah we put the jb weld on the head gasket break in the parking lot. We suck, It didn't work.

We ended up pulling the spark plug wire to prevent flames from the break shooting onto the fuel line.

Let me thank you now for not burning it down,  It is just the head gasket, Not sure right now why it Failed . Switching sides with the heads on the redo.Painting stuff on the way back . EVERYTHING is BLACK,  Can't see anything.

was going to get the Fel pro 541sd head gaskets as a set. the rest were saved.
