So How do you think those Mega Buck Vette Owners Felt Sharing Space with a Known LOW Buck GRM Challenge Car.  I would be ashamed I spent 60 grand more for some thing Half as Cool.

In reply to GTXVette :

You're welcome, I'm glad the parts went to a good home! Like I mentioned earlier, no one showed any interest in buying them at the Challenge, and I sure wasn't going to tote them back home afterward.

I never saw anyone at the show yesterday even walk by & look at my car. Of course I was walking around too, so I might have missed them. Honestly I think most of them were glad I didn't park anywhere near their cars.

Oh, and they were starting the valve cover races as I was leaving. I'm pretty sure some of the entrants would have take a significant portion of our Challenge budget to build.

I don't get the Rumblebee theme on a Corvette. Has it got a Hemi or something?

A small update. Earlier someone suggested this kit to scavenge the crankcase exhaust in an effort to eliminate the oil spewage from my front seal at high RPM. Considering the stock L98 exhaust manifolds already have air inlet tubes from the OE air pump system, and I'm a cheap SOB, I decided to rig up my own version using them and the PCV valve. Here's the before & after pics.

I still need to drive it & see how it does. I also may add another setup like this to the drivers side, but I need to find an elbow, as the hose hits the alternator causing it to kink

Way back in my apprenticeship days, my instructor (who was a long time drag racer, and built funny car chassis on the side) said you do NOT want that for the street. I never got out of him why you wouldn't, but he was pretty emphatic.

I don't think the caps that go in the valve covers have any sort of check valve, but hopefully the bitties for the collector do. Otherwise how would you keep the exhaust out of the crankcase?

In reply to SkinnyG :

Correct, the part that threads onto the exhaust manifold is a check valve. Plus, instead of breathers with tubes I'm using the pcv valve.

Ive not had a chance to drive it yet, but I'll be watching closely for a blue cloud behind me & keep some oil in the car just in case.

Make sure it doesn't clash with the stripes. I'm still convinced they can work. Looking for an excuse to drive to Mississippi.

I've been thinking about stripes quite a bit, but haven't decided on what I think would work/look best.

Is that kit just a draft tube or does it put gasses back into the intake?

edit: nevermind, I read the intstrucitons on Jegs site. It's just a check valve that lets the exhaust pull from the crankcase. Neat!

In reply to maschinenbau :

It's a pretty cool concept, but I've not found many details online about its effectiveness. Right now I have the passenger side plumbed into the exhaust, and driver's side into the intake. In theory I think that will draw from the crankcase into the intake under low-load/high-vacuum situations, then draw into the exhaust under higher RPM. I have no idea if that's good or bad, but I figure I need to test it a while like this before I make a decision.

Ive notice a couple times, especially when it was cooler last week, or early morning at the Challenge, I'm getting moisture/fog out the defrost vents. I don't presently have a way to check coolant level, since the cap isn't the highest point in the system anymore. So I'm working on a way to remedy that, then once I'm sure my coolant level is ok I'll put some miles on it & see if I've cured the oil spray out the crank seal and/or introduced any new problems.
