Big haul today from a interesting guy, big post coming.
So I drove to a little south of Akron to buy some parts from a guy with some turbo vans. He said all his stuff was super nice... All of it was like perfect.
So he had 2 vans at his house. Black one was a factory LWB 5 speed van and other is a heavily modified that he drag races.
We talked to him for a while, his son works for ESC tuning and then he was showing us his vws, and they where super cool. He has a super nice passat, a new gli with full bolt ons and then his baby with a awesome story. 15 golf R he bought new, has 8k on it now and runs 11s. It was used as the ECS development car. Imagine getting gapped by a old guy in a golf r with a crackle tune.
Enough of that, to the parts. I got about everything I can start back up and get back to the glh.
Trailer stuff. Got some slicks mounted on pumpers, and a nice forged crank and block.
Marty sent me a letter g manifold, tb, and airbox lid.
Ac compressor from van guy
The nicest set of ac lines i have ever seen
Made some rest hits. 15psi, 42deg ambient, small burnout, launching on its own rubber, launch at 4k and dead hooks.
Having to touch every bolt and everything on the glh is part of the fun and fustration.
Side note: this has like a 1/4" lip on it, had to hurt airflow
Bad: modified for a blow through setup
Good: 85 style draw through
Had to put my yearly Thermostat in tabbie.
Side note: lost headlights in white trash, need to figure out why.

That's off the other halfs job site. Was bound for the scrap pile. We plan on using it upstairs for Attic access. I made one a few weeks back at work and just materials are expensive.
In reply to Professor_Brap (Forum Supporter) :
Going to need something similar for loft access. Debating bolting ladder to wall or making narrow steps. Steps easier to climb with stuff but take up floor space

Ladder and a block and tackle setup for heavy or bulky items?
I'm waiting for Rockauto, bought all the injector kits they had in town and still 2 short.
Every website says my car (RX8) needs 2 kits but I have 6 injectors. (6 port "High power")
I hope to have them tomorrow. Hopefully not the wrong parts.

The kit I got has the right strainers, and seals, wrong spacers tho.
I couldn't find the exact brand I got, I hope they are good and fit.
Ya know this is like grocery shopping now, I binge watched every apocalypse movie ever made and not one showed people searching for TP or hand sanitizer or trying weird brands because the shelves were stripped. Now its auto parts, Covid-19 sux.
What are you going to do about the spacers? Re use the old ones or do they space and seal on those?
In reply to Bent-Valve (FS) :
None of it will seal or space out right with what I got. I got another kit inbound.
This covid stuff has really slowed down my progress, I'm still working and now with overtime.
I'm glad you have a job, and overtime. I hope you keep having the problem of work. ;)
Now if we both can get the parts we need!
Got pan dropped, some happy shiny person used clear silicone.
Nothing to concerning I found so just doing rod bearings and rings.
Found paperwork for this motor, should have 40k on a rebuild done by Jasper.
so, got some berkeleyy E36 M3 going on with the rings. Top to rings look quite nice, the oil ring is heavy worn.
These are the worst 2 rod bearings Wich is fustrating, need to take the mains off and see what I have going on there.
I looked back through your thread because I thought it was you wanting a turbo or Daytona body.
1990 dodge daytona turbo needs attention. $500
Maybe you know who was wanting one of these?

I'd love one, I'm more tempted than I'd like to admit
