How do you guys strip rusty metal?

As I see it, short of magic, you guys must spend most of your time sanding rust off your sheet metal.

In reply to Crackers :

We do spend a lot of time sanding rust. I wouldn't say we spend most of our time on it. A wirebrush will make quick work of rusty sheel metal. You just have to put your head down and do it.

Edit: I should say a power brush. Power tools FTW

I had one of those Novas, brand for new in 1974, it had a stovebolt six in it, automatic, AM radio, seats and that's about it.  Came from the factory with a pinhole in the fuel pump diaphragm which diluted the oil and trashed the engine right smartly.  The GD thing drank oil like I drink beer.  This was apparently a common occurrence.  It was such a crapper to drive, I got the dealer to take it back on trade for a 1 year new Olds Cutlass to replace the POS.  The Olds rotted out in the rear quarters in two winters.  Unloaded it for a 77 Honda Accord, haven't owned a GM since.   The Honda was almost as bad as the Olds for rotting out, haven't owned one of them since that either.

My credo in life, post the Nova/Olds/Honda chain, is never give them a second shot at ya.

Cool story bro. My dad grew up with Novas. He's owned probably 30 or more. They're cool cars.

Ooopps.  Your headers are on upside down.  That's how you would put them if you were going to run a turbo....oh nevermind.  :)

Yeah. Once you get that pesky firewall out of the way, the sky is the limit.

Did you figure out where the seat needed to be in relation to the inputs, or are you going to mount pedals/steering to fit the seat position?

We did a mock up of where the pedals could be and mounted the seat on where it was most comfortable for my dad and I. Then we will mount the pedals where we found was best from the mock up.
