I have been building a Tiny House on a custom Low Rider Trailer for the last few months. My intention was to tow it with a Honda CRV, as the model specific hitch is rated at 3500 lbs and the Tiny House will weigh less than that. I was disappointed to discover that, even though the hitch is rated at 3500 lbs, turns out the CRV is only rated at 1500 lbs. Time to build a Tiny House Tow Vehicle / Ramp Truck. This dually build is overkill for simply towing the Tiny House, but I have found myself in need of a ramp truck on many occasions. This truck should do it all. I purchased a 59 Willys Jeep FC170 a few months back. Body only, no chassis or drivetrain. It is a former fire dept truck and has lots of fun extras included. Lights, huge PA speaker, stainless railings and utility doors. The plan is to build a ramp truck that looks like a scaled up Pick Up truck with a tailgate that doubles as the ramp.
Here is the cab.

I recently found a 93 GM Step Van with a 6.2 Detroit Diesel with a 5 speed and the HD leaf sprung front I-Beam Axle. The step van had been sitting around for many years and though it does run, it needs some work. I believe, mostly ridding the van of old diesel and apparently the algae that grows in it over time.

It is also in immediate need of fresh tires! These are badly dry rotted.

Here is a short video of the truck
If anyone is interested....Here is the link to the Tiny House Build
At this point, I am focused on getting the step van sorted and reliable. The cab is scheduled to arrive via shipper in the by end of next month.

This is gonna be awesome.
Yeah, as usual, Ben brings it! Always great to see one of your builds show up.
Is there a build thread on the tiny house?

Awesome project. That's a solid looking cab, way better shape than mine. Mines a 63 that I sat on a 95 f350 frame and made the cab tilt.
In reply to Ben_Modified :
Well the whole bottom was rotten on mine. So I welded in a 2x4 tube and welded hinges on to it. I still need to add some lift cylinders.

It's official: You are The E36 M3, my friend.
This thread has all my favorite things:
- FC Jeep (bonus for being a firetruck at one time) - Check and Check
- Detroit Diesel - Check
- Ramp Truck - Check
- Tiny House - Check
Time to sell all my E36 M3 and emulate you.
Please tell me you're keeping the paint and graphics on the FC cab.

Thanks, but I had to reassure my wife that this is not an insult!
I have a free to me 94 Step van 6.5 (Broken) but solid, also longer than yours with the 10,000 lb Axle. what it needs is to be 4,5' longer, to pull the car in and living space, not sure what to do about engine, I guess it'll be a BBC and auto from an RV there are a few out there
Part 4 of the Ramp Truck / Tiny House Hauler
This has made it to my shop!

I’d forgot about this one Ben! It sounds like it’ll be perfect for CTC once it’s done.
