Waiting on parts to get the blower assembly back together. I was sitting in the car looking around and realized there's a lot of things that could be carbon fiber so carbon fiber things there will be.
I have zero experience with anything composite related but I watched a youtube video so here we go. Everything I read said start with a small simple panel so naturally I decided to turn 1/3 of the interior into a solid piece of carbon in my first attempt.

Im going to do the whole rear wall using the existing trim as part of the piece and eliminate the storage bins

Stripped all the leather

Re-bonding 18 year old panels, but for the most part nothing broke when I pulled it all apart

I taped over the seems in the bins and used mold release wax and PVA

Filled, flattened and then sealed the spots in the rear wall where the luggage belts were

More fitment and checks

3k 2 by 2 twill because that's what the internet said

4 sheets, 891 grams
And away we go

Cranked the heat in the garage and let her rest

It actually worked

i'd say it's 50% done still have a ton of finishing to get it right but, yea i'm good with it so far

Now all you need is a basic gel coat to keep it smooth and prevent uv degradation. Looking good sir.
Fitting round dos

Close enough for the girls that I hang out with

Very satisfying

eleventyseventh resin and sanding

I need to pick up a tank of argon and we can proceed

Will those holes not let all the boost out?
Many wow's were just uttered in my reading chair.
In reply to GrayWolf :
How'd you make those much more complex pieces like the grab handles
I just skinned the factory pieces, I stripped the factory leather then smoothed, primed and laid carbon over the factory parts
So no actual mold making or anything just fitting carbon into where the leather should be.. I was wondering why it fit so perfectly. Are you gluing it into the structure of the door card?
I absolutely love this build. I would love to find me a 55k or v12 bi-turbo project.
In reply to Gambit0117 :
Yep just turning all the leather treated parts into carbon parts, everything still attaches and mounts the same as factory. When I take a shot at making a true carbon hood and trunk that's when I'll make molds and setup a vacuum system.

Yea man I definitely want to do a V12 car in the future.
Holy crap this rules.
I'll be honest, yesterday was a workday so after I got a lot of my stuff done I was just here hanging and decided to wander into this area of the forum...so glad I did! This is awesome! Youre giving me ideas and it's gonna hurt my wallet

Yeah........damn. Speechless. This is an amazing build!
So... What are the holes in the boost plenums for?
I love the fact that you just jumped into composites. It is something I have really wanted to try for the past couple of years but couldn't bring myself to order all the stuff. Seeing this being done successfully is all the confidence I need to pull the trigger and start playing.
Thanks OP
