Another small but critical step. I finally figured out how to eliminate the a/c compressor and reroute the accessory belt.

Yow, post a trigger warning first next time laugh

Transverse Cad aluminum engines cause so many nightmares, especially for those who have replaced water pumps several times because for a while at least the only pumps available were garbage.  For the uninitiated, besides poor access in chassis, some of the bolts are through bolts for the water outlet on the other side of the flat-sheet timing cover.  The ONLY bolts for it.  So unbolting the water pump gives a decent chance of the outlet shifting and losing its gasket seal...

So... are you recommending I replace it now?!

In reply to Sofa King :

If it wasn't leaking, then I wouldn't bother.

The defective new ones were kind of cockeyed, and the belt would be noisy at best, or pulley would rub on things at worst.

Glad you brought this up! I was debating whether or not to change it.  It isn't leaking and spins freely.

The other "Lotus" is "done", and it's too cold to golf, so I finally got back to this project! I finished up the rear coilovers and it's sitting on the new suspension for the first time! Here is a shot of the final coilover design.

Finally playing with fiberglass again!

Building the tops of the "doors".

Are you going to reopen the frunk and decklid when finished with body work?

Is this a "Lotiac" , "Pontus" , "Fieropa" .....?

Great project!!

I plan to "clamshell" the front and back and solid mount the sides.

Not sure what to call it!

You should call it a Pontius... so when you drive this unholy creation, you will be a Pontius Pilot.

That's terrible.   I love it.

The execution, the proportions, the vision! These things I like.

It's awesome to see the Lotus styling kept, heck, improved even. That, and V8 power, again. Really great build.

Are you going to be at the shop today? I'm going to bay village and can probably drop off that summit catalog with your car in it this afternoon

I'll be there at 10:30 for a couple hours. Love to show you the speedster, but I have picked up a bunch of catalogs, so don't need yours.

Can confirm after this morning that this thing is neat looking in person and the proportions are pretty excellent

Mocked up a windscreen. Can't decide if it's too much Speed Racer or Speed Boat, but with a little tweaking I think it will work.

Did you just cut the fiberglass and pull it out to flare it?

In reply to TurboFource :

So far all I have done, is form the lip by bending a piece of conduit around a tire, spaced it from the body with metal strips and self tappers, then fill in the gap with masking tape. Tomorrow I intend to cover the masking tape with packing tape, then cover with fiberglass. The packing tape will release the cured fiberglass and I will be able to pull the piece off clean off the masking tape, and then trim and reattach the flare.
