Think it over and let me know if you want to sell and how much you would want for it. Did you get a salvage title for it or is it no title?

I don't "need" it either but I'm always looking for another project.

It has a good FL rebuilt title on it.  I bought it from pimpm3 knowing it was a questionable engine.  I also know he gave me a deal and I'd pass that deal on.  I also know he gave me a deal and I could have a lot of fun with it with more work.  Whatever I think I have ~$700 in real world money in it.

Please make this happen, even if you're not the one to do it.

Photos like this really make me wonder if ALL engines known for sludge are purely caused by neglect.

I would not be able to walk away - would have to flush that mess with kerosene and  see what happens on fresh oil.

All stickers have been mailed.  If you requested some and don't get them it's probably my fault.  Just let me know and I'll send some.

The only way I'd run this engine and hope for it to last would be to pull it tear it down clean it and put it back together.  I'd rather just put in a junkyard engine or buy a copart donor.  If the sludge is that bad behind the timing cover there's a E36 M3 load I'm not seeing without a tear down.

Yeah, i'd say that motor is junk. I'm guessing the trans and diff are probably not far behind. If the fluid in the other two checks out, then I'd just throw a junkyard vq at it.

I think Travis has dibs from before when he and I were talking about using it as a manual donor.  I really don't know what I'm going to do with it but if I let it go I'll put you on the list.

I kind of want to see you tear it all down.  Just how bad is it in there???

It would be quite the epic phoenix-rising-from-the-ashes moment for this engine to run again.

Though the car is still a complete piece of E36 M3.  So choose your counsel wisely.

I always thought you were a sadomasochist type.  But yeah it would be kinda cool to see the train wreck that engine is.

I appreciate it Stampie, but realistically I don't see myself manual-swapping Datsaniti before it leaves my life. It would be a cool project for the next owner though.

I wonder if you could find an Inline six that would fit and make the 350Z Nissan should have

Ford 300 will fit in an RX-8 (kinda) so it'll fit in a 350Z, I imagine. I mean, maybe. I mean, it's a terrible idea and there's a hundred better engine choices for this car, but you could find one almost anywhere and it will run forever.

Stampie, I've got one on a stand.  It was making some ugly noises last time it was running, but she was running.  If you're interested I can pull the pan and check bearings.  Might've been a lifter, though.
