FINALLY, another Gridlife Time Attack weekend.
It was a great weekend, and I got Bobzilla, Daylan_C and TXRatti from GRM Forum all hooked into working Grid with me.
We went out and did rollers after the track went cold one night and had a blast goofing off as a whole Sundae Cup class together.
The Car drove great, but I started getting a sneaking suspicion that I might be down on power.
Autobahn Photo dump, more info to follow later.
Mid Summer Safety updates
Trip to PPIR and drive to the summit of Pikes Peak.
Alpine Horizon: not many photos.. but a crazy fun weekend, more to come on this later.
Travel to Mid ohio and photo drop from that weekend.
A one day instructing and track day I did with OVR SCCA where they had Gridlife HPDE insctructors come out and run their friday test day and HPDE beginner program before a race weekend.
The Trip home
where 45 minutes in a headlight bulb went out as I was heading into a 9 hour drive with more than half of it at night.
OK, Photo dump completed.. More thoughts to be added here over time..
But now there's a little record of all the shenanigans i got up to last summer.. captured here on GRM.
I work 100% from home and i still managed to put 19k miles on the Fit in 2021..

This amount of shenanigans is why I'm trying to make the pivot to a job that requires less shop time and more life enjoyment time. Side note this thread and some of the sundae cup content I've seen makes me really want a fit.

I have to do a lot of extra logistics to make Gridlife schedules work for me, but anyone in the midwest can buy a fit and come out and have a great time!
Sundae Cup does One Lap of America is taking shape and it looks like we're going to have our own sub class!
Went junkyard hunting last week and managed to turn up this guy!
a good condition leather wheel from a GD3 Fit Sport!
6 months ago at Gridlife Midwest fest.. they were selling these.. and I had to have one..
Fast forward 6 months and i finally got a hub adapter ordered and got the wheel installed today when I had a some free time this afternoon.
Also... NANOBEAVERS!! Daylan snuck that onto my car at Midwest fest when i wasn't looking last year..
To get the wheel installed yesterday I did things quick and dirty to get an initial install done.
The wheel was BADLY off center, and the hub adapter cover was too long for the Fit.
So today I went in and moved the hub adapter a few degrees on the splines and trimmed the hub cover a little bit..
The hub cover isn't perfect, but you have to be within 2-3 ft to notice the blemishes of the cut I made and you can't see it from the driver seat.
so wheel install is done!
Nice! What is your first event this year?

It was supposed to be Willow springs.. but my buddy and I are probably going to bail on it.. it's 45 hours of driving for a track weekend.. it's just gonna suck so much.. so One Lap may be my first event.. with a shakedown day before..
After almost 2 years, I have finally finished compiling all the data my dad captured in his log book over 12 years of driving the car.
So I WFH, and SWMBO and I take her car everywhere because it's a comfortable stock toyota camry.
But the past few days I've taken the Fit out to run errands.... and by god.. the race seat is the single greatest mod I could make to this car.
I am so excited to run at Willow Springs in a few weeks.
Made a LOT of progress yesterday.
Got the Roll bar installed with the help of my friends who own Mattellica the Celica.
Rear seat weights
40% seat 26lbs
60% seat 38lbs
Roll bar 58lbs
I'm not including the weight of the rear seatbelts and buckles.. but those are DEFINITELY heavier than the 3 lbs of roll bar hardware l installed.
So not even including any weight savings from pulling the seatbelts... the roll bar is a 6lb savings..
Here's a photo of me in the seat with harness angles.. oh this worked out almost PERFECT.
and after we got the roll bar in we reinstalled the interior and made the few cuts needed to fit around the roll bar.
It turned out REALLY GOOD!
we did finish the harness install properly after these photos were taken.
These are the wheels I installed on the Fit yesterday.
I am trying to find 1 or 2 more of these wheels, but the Tire rack website is REALLY not cooperating with combinations I would have used to find them. I knew they were winding them down, I wonder if Tire Rack finally sold off the last of them.
I love seeing what you do with this car. That's also not the first roll bar to be inside it :).
