got this first side looking nice and symmetrical.   I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to do this, but glad I started on the difficult side (it's TIGHT with the oil filter area and steering shaft)

Thanks Pete!  Well underway with the other side headers.  Still waiting on the throttle body flange ...

some photos of the header fabrication and I made a thin ferrari style shift lever between welds cooling off.  I need to add the bends and v band flanges and build the rest of the exhaust but the hard part is done!  The intake manifold I ended up chopping up and I'm re-doing most of the plenum.

I'm glad to hear you're moving to version 2 on the Intake.

Your exhaust is simply a work of art.

I'm confident you'll apply that level of detail to the next iteration yes

SHEEESH.  Give me a warning next time you post porn to this build thread... Yikes.  Those collecter plugs are a work of art themselves.

Wtf is going on here?  This level of build is not doing good things for my ego.

Awesome build!

Thanks fellas.  The intake manifold design will be pretty much the same, the issue was more structural.  It shrunk a lot from the heat so fitment suffered and many of the welds were just not adequate.  My order of operations for the welds was to blame.

I have completed the intake manifold now.  The welds are much better (well at least on the plenum, not where it connects to the runners!)  It slides easily onto the studs in the heads which is the most important thing.  It will be powder coated after I can leak test it when the engine is ready to start.

I got some seats as well.  May delete the headrests or significantly reshape them when I recover everything down the road.  But these should get me rolling for now and they look pretty nice I think!

Some small jobs getting done off the big check list.
Front main seal + trigger wheel and sensor setup
alternator mounting
LSD diff installed
brake lines routed, rear brakes completely redone, axle seals and bearings.
fuel cell mounted

Thanks!  I'll try to post some more frequent updates the rest of the summer.

Building the headers back a little further so that they are now fully finished.  Flex sections will be added in the rest of the exhaust and the plan is to run 4 separate pipes all the way back.

I also made up some fuel rails to run some 34# newer bosch injectors.  I modified the fuel bulkhead the cell came with to be able to use an some AN hose and to hang a fuel pump too.  The plan is to eventually have a false carpeted floor or fake vintage suitcase lid for cell access.

You know you should actually make everything twice, one to use in the car and the other to display in a gallery, right?

Those headers are works of art.

P.S. Wouldn't four separate pipes with no crossovers make it sound like it has four 3 cylinder engines under the hood? Huh, now that I am thinking about it, I guess it would sound awesome.

Thank you piguin for the compliment, that means a lot!  For as long as this is taking it better at least look good in the end, right?

So I have been pouring over information on exhaust design the last couple of months and really looking at what ferrari did in the 60s and 70s especially because for me that is the ultimate v12 sound (not the newer stuff like pagani).  The vintage ferrari systems pretty much all use a system with 4 separate pipes, two for each bank.  Some have each bank split into two separate exhaust pipes and some merge into one but then right back into two.  I think they were on to something.  It would have been a lot easier to simplify the systems but I think it was done for a reason- for the sound!  Good news is the firing order is the same for the jag engine as those colombo v12s.  I don't think I will necessarily get the exact sound due to cylinder head design and larger displacement but I'm hoping to get closer to it than what others have gotten out of their jag engines.  Here's a couple of the vintage ferrari systems and then a video/link below of a jaguar v12 exhaust system with 4 separate pipes from headers back.

The other component (one of them, anyway) to that trademark classic V12 sound is the intake system. Those old Ferraris were carbureted, with a single throat per cylinder. Your Jag has a big plenum with a single common throttle body.

It breaks my heart to say it, but we're going to need you to add ITBs to your list. The car requires them.

While I don't disagree with you that it would sound awesome and bring it to 'another level'  I just don't know if the juice is worth the squeeze.  And I'm already here!  Setting everything up perfectly equal and getting driveability dialed in would be the biggest worry.  The Jenvey throttle bodies for these engines are quite nice though.

Juice vs squeeze may be an issue in terms of performance, but I suspect you won't get the snarl without individual throttles.  It will, no doubt, sound fantastic - but not the same.

Jenvey stuff is cool and all, but it costs more than my entire car.  It is worth looking into secondhand motorcycle parts.  You obviously have the fab skills to make them work.

Maybe something for the future, after you get the thing on the road and decide what it needs next.
