I saw this and thought of your build... nice and compact, runs on a 12v battery or solar panel in this guys case... seems like a good way to cool off the small space you've got

I've seen those. the electricity to run the fan is easy to come up with, but where do you buy ice in the middle of the woods??

Some leftover lumber from the PWC sliders that were on the trailer and some tie-downs that happened to be around, and here's a tongue shelf. Not sure why, but I bet it will come in handy.

you don't... you get it from the last grocery store you see and let it make the first night or so not as suck lol... I also wonder if a gallon of frozen water like in the vid and some dry ice in the bottom of the tub would last longer... but then I also wonder about the dry ice and issues with the co2 in a relatively closed off area...
The window is from a pickup camper shell from the junkyard.
I built a frame of 1"x2" to make the wall thicker and to give the screws something to bite in to. The aluminum frame came with the salvage window. Here it is, glued and screwed in place:

For my grand finale, here is the test-fit of the mattress. Fits just as I thought.
Seriously cool project. You might want to consider putting a smallish shelf somewhere in there (not where you'd hit your head) to hold "stuff" - clothes, water bottle, whatever - that you would have in there. It would keep you from rolling over on it at night. Are you going to insulate the walls sometime?

I'm really torn on insulation, although it could easily be insulated with 1.5" foam. In summer, I don't want to be in an insulated box where my body is giving off heat and the camper is trapping it in. It's tough enough trying to sleep when it's 90F.
a small shelf and some mesh "bags" would prob be a nice addition... but looks like a great setup man... also could do a fold out "table" on the outside for cooking, eating and all the other things you use a table for while camping

I probably will, one day. Right now I'm burned out on spending time and money. I just want to camp!

Easier than setting up a tent. Much more comfy than the same mattress on a tent floor. It's all a matter of perspective. Sure it's no Airstream, but it's a whole lot better than a tent!
I have a HF 48"x40" trailer I use that I would love to convert into a single person teardrop trailer that I could tow with my Accord. It looks like you did a good job.

any updates on this thing? get some use out of it or anything? I'm wondering if you put trailer jacks on it or anything to keep it level and from flopping as you first got in (or maybe that's just an issue for me as i'm a fatty lol)

Talk about your zombie thread! I took it camping about 3 times. Then I decided I enjoyed building it more than I liked camping. Sold it on last Fall.

What made it bad to camp in? Camping in general, or something specific to what you designed?
