Hello, decided to post my new project here.
The car is old Zaz 968, belonged to my grandfather and was my first car. Sold it when i was teenager and decided to buy it back, it sat in my shed for over 10 years, decided what to do with it. Since it was my first car, tought i build something different. Originally it has air cooled V4 engine in the back and rear wheel drive. So i tought mid engine, single seater rocket would be cool. Ordered some 355 tube and started to build simple jig.

Car will be singel seater.

Decided to use audi 20v 1.8T engine, since its cheap and should be well tunable.

Gearbox is from an old fwd audi 80.

Porsche 911 steering rack.

Front knuckles.

Rear knuckles.

Cutting the original shell for making room for tube chassis..

Oh snap this is a serious effort. Fab work looks awesome from here! Do you have a target weight in mind?
Where are you located?

In reply to pres589 (djronnebaum) :
Thanks. I hope target weight is around 650 kgs. I am located in Estonia.
This is Absolutely Fabulous! I would imagine it's the first ZAZ build ever represented on the GRM forum.
Do you have pictures of the original V4 engine?
I clicked on this thread expecting a Porsche and was curious as to how a ZAZ fit in. This is much cooler than I'd imagined!

Me too. A ZAZ 2.0t into a Porsche 968? Did ZAZ make a 2.0t? Maybe an aftermarket turbo on a ZAZ 2.0l engine into a 968.
Ervinr has exceeded all of those expectations by far.
This should be interesting!!
This is great, can't wait to see where this goes!

So mocking up front end, set knuckle angle 7 degrees and did a jig to a steering rack, so i can move it and minimize bumpsteering. Next thing is to make a jig to wishbones and start doing brackets for steering rack.

And some work on this...

To having fun on frozen lake with spiked tires..

Dang. That ZAZ is going to absolutely rip when it's done.
Can't wait to see more.

Steering rack position is good now, need to get alumec to make some mounts.

Meanwhile did some exhaust manifolds for merc.

Top quality work here, I'm looking forward to more.

Nothing new on the zaz at the moment, been gathering parts and materials, however merc manifold is almost finished..

Sheesh, the level of welding and fab work here is so Choice... Really really well done.
Following along, obviously.
I'd love to see more about the mercedes! What's the intended purpose for it? Is it a W124? I don't quite know enough to determine if it was that or a W201 from the pics above.

Thanks for positive words guys. The W201 i build for customer, done half cage, nuke fuel system, tilton pedalbox and so on, engine was 700whp on old w201 wich he crashed. Anyways got manifolds ready today..

Made quick stand for it.. :D
