Could you imagine running that at the Challenge, just for the look?

Wish I could do a speedster off that, but ain't gonna happen.
Way cool though.
Opp is a whole lot closer to me, than it is from B'ham. With no job at the moment, I got the time to go put eyes on it for someone, and will be glad to enable in any way I can!!!
Can probably make inside storage room for that.

Damnit Panther, stop that!  I have a friend who winters at his ranch in the Fla panhandle, coming home with a Dodge dually and empty horse trailer.

I almost got this out of my mind ......

50$ in scrap sheet metal for the body and seat, and put together a brass radiator for the win.

The Challenge magazine cover would look something like this:

Ahhh! Now it's on. I'll go attempt to explain the challenge to him, with $500 in cash, and hold it till your friends trip. Will deliver to him absolutely any part of the panhandle. I'll even include the sheet metal (a sun screwed form almost a dozen appliances.
You are on your own on the radiator!

we can start a long distance team, and spend a bit of time here in my shop, on its way back to the challenge

wah-ha-ha-ha!!! (Best evil laugh I can type. I have a great one in person!)devil

Could donate a metal tractor seat from a ford 2000, if that's appropriate

I have very good wood working stuff. Mediocre skill. But have never refurbished a wooden wheel. No clue how to upgrade, or what the best plan would be... but I bet we'd have exelent GRM help for that question.

Just sand ans seal.  But you've got it all dialed, you're even close by.  What are you waiting for?

Parts is parts.  Question though, how do you install a site glass on the side of a tank when you can't get your hands inside to tighten the nut?

Threaded holes in the side of the radiator would work.

Money is the chief hold back. For the past 3 years I have had to take money out of retirement savings to pay my monthly bills. As a blessing, we actually have that savings! I always figured instead of retirement, I'd die one day on a contract, with tools in my hands! Got married at 45, and for some reason, my wife doesn't like that plan! There are a few other poor people on here, but most would not understand. Couple years ago, I was average poor, but could funnel a buck or three to toys. If this "improvement" in the economy ever stops making me poorer, it will still be years for me. And , at least in my life, it's still sliding' down hill FAST!!!

Anyway, sorry that answer got long!

The blind hole mounting , is the kinda fab work I excell at. My mind went through a few ways, as I was reading that one sentence!

And that pic is FANTASTIC

Sorry for your troubles, it'll get better (no politics!).  I'm having trouble with the Metropolitan, still viable, but I need more time, patience and money; I always have two of those.

Thanks for the kind words. Unfortunately it's gonna get a lot worse, despite "they said". But I was told economic (no matter how political) is ok surprise

Since I disagree with that, I apologize for saying how bad it really is. I'm just in a bad place. Not that I'm bitter, or anything!

Back on a lighter note, I've always loved the shop sign " we do 3 kinds of work: good, cheap and fast. Pick any two!"

The time, money, patience is same!!!

'cept I have none of the three right now! That, will get better laugh

The only engine I have ($0.00 legit budget hit) is a BMW K1100. It would be slow, but faster than that! Are tires available for wood spoke wheels? Would they hold a. x. speeds?
I have a nice old sheet metal brake (don't know how to use one yetblush) and my bodywork is abysmal. But I think even I could build that hood!

Had to check... ad is still up. Didn't remember it had a possibility good engine.
I want to go explain the challenge to him, and offer $500. But I need one of the "high rollers" to bankroll that!!!

sucks being broke. I've spent that in a single night at the pub, in the ol' days!

I wonder how old this build is. But old or new, that's some impressive work.

OK Panther, where do we go from here?

This one doesn't have the wooden spokes, but a full dish moon type wheel.  (1st photo unrelated).

Before y'all go down a Challenge hole realize that the brakes might not be good enough. Tom and I talked about my Model T and agreed that is have to make major changes to the brakes to safely do the Challenge. That said if you keep that in mind go for it.
