If you are like me, you're thinking "I remember when these were new" or "My Dad's friend let me ride along in one of those cars".  At some point in your past, there was Honda love, then separation.  I can help.  I'm selling my 1989 Honda Civic Si.  Just completed a refresh and ready to let it go.  Black, with TR wheels and Bridgestone RE 71R tires.  Long live the "Chassis of the Gods".  Ebay Motors - bidding now.

Did this car have any rust before it was repainted?

In reply to Woody (Forum Supportum) : Nope, no rust.  It's a California car all its life.

My 11 year old loves these, which makes me think these will just go up in value.

I was wondering about that too.  Did find the direct eBay link:  https://www.ebay.com/itm/1989-Honda-Civic-Si/265081943311?hash=item3db81d750f:g:cYoAAOSwj4FgRvKQ

The best car I ever owned. Sold it after 20 years of fun ownership.  Big mistake.  Maybe good thing this on is on the west coast.

I want my old CRX si back.  Loved that little car

Back in 1999, I had a white '90 that was definitely mistreated before my ownership. Burning oil, some surface rust, overheating, you name it. Still, it remains as one of, if not THE, most loved of the 30+ cars I've owned. Maybe it's because I was 19 when I owned it, and everything is heightened at that age. Maybe it's because I only had it a year before an accident took it from me, leaving unfinished business. Maybe I'll add this car to my eBay watchlist and see if nostalgia gets the better of me.

I had two CRX SI's and a Civic SI back in the late 80's early 90's. They truly are great cars by any measure. While I loved both CRX's, the Civic SI was dynamically the same thing and the least expensive commuter car I have ever owned.  Fast, handled great, got good gas mileage, and my only maintenance in over 130K miles was brakes, tires, oil and filter changes. I bought it with 92K  on it, had  just been serviced and a new clutch installed and drove it for several years for cheap. Great car by any measure! I'll have to watch this auction, no room at the moment, but this is definitely one I would  like to have again.

Honestly, I'm not very experienced with forums, but I've been a GRM subscriber since 2006 when I bought this car.  I've owned it for 16 years.  Also, Big fan of the $2000 Challenge since it started, but it's on the other side of the continent from CA.  I'm still trying to program the VCR.

I remember looking a white one on a used car lot in...the mid nineties?... that I really wanted. Until I noticed the taillight panel jumped outward when you slammed the hatch. When I flipped the carpet back just inside the hatch I was looking at the toes of my shoes and the blacktop.

I always thought these were cooler than the CRX.

In reply to ultraclyde (Forum Supporter) : The 1989 Civic Si (within the magical 4 year period of the good suspension design) to get the 1.6 engine.  It's the lightest/quickest Civic mainly due to the door weights and seatbelt setup (compared to the 90-91 models).  Simple, practical with extra cargo room, and zippy.

For those AutoX Civic racers that remember a SCCA ST class drama at Solo Nationals one year...  Does your Civic still have axle donuts?  Yes, mine does.

Ohhhhhhhh damn that's even close to me.

I don't have driveway space for it but it sure is tempting. Good luck!

Yes, the black Civic Si sold for 5,400 and I also have a supercharger currently for sale now, per the link above.  Also, I still have a 1990 Barbados Yellow CRX Si that I'm restoring now.  It will be for sale soon.  Love restoring these cars.  So fun to drive.

Dear Honda,

The Civic SI needs to come back available as a hatch!

I'm so mad I didn't set a reminder for that Si hatch—someone got a great deal. If you come across another, definitely let me know. Bonus points for white!

Cool to see a non-clapped out Civic Si tastefully modded. I had civic si that had rear subframe issues, never could get it right, traded for a kart, the guy that bought it had successful runs in champcar before having to retire it. I had a Red Civic STD, but never raced it. I like them but have to many bad memories laugh
