Hey all, I am going to go ahead and list my Miata for sale. I got this for dirt cheap last year, and found out 10 days later (with the engine pulled to reseal oil pan) that my wife was pregnant. I have my Courier for a 2 seater, and my BMW as a 4-seater family car. So, no room left in the fleet for this now that we have the baby!
It's a 1995 I got last year after having sat for a number of years. It's a crank window, manual steering rack car. Located just outside of metro Detroit
The good: (off the top of my head)
New Water pump and Timing Belt
New Cam and Crank seals
New CAS O ring
Shifter boots refreshed, Flyin' Miata Delrin shift knob
Driver's side Rocker rust repaired (needs paint/finished, will probably get to that)
Pedal pads replaced
RacingBeat Intake and Catback
New Battery/vent
New brake pads front and rear
New PCV in the valve cover (I broke the old one)
The bad:
Passenger rocker has some rust, and there's a weird spot behind the passenger door too
The rear window cracked this week
Hood has several dents/blemishes
Trunk clear coat is peeling
No passenger side air bag
Driver's side has air bag - but steering wheel side connector is missing (pins are there)
Horn doesn't work, because wiring to steering wheel isn't connected (I assume)
I re-sealed the oil pan to try to stop a leak - it doesn't seem to have fixed it. Still drips oil, but hasn't lost anything noticeable on the dip stick since I've been driving it.
Some PO installed speakers that interfered with the window cranks, so they cut off the ends of the cranks (???). I pulled the driver's side speaker out and put a new crank on. Pass speaker/window crank are still bad, but I do have a new crank for that side.
Radio install is janky
Water in the trunk after heavy rains - still clean
The ignition key only locks/works on the passenger door
Needs motor mounts
The ugly:
Paint is generally bad overall
Backs of the seats have rips/tears
Mirrors are painted a crappy green, and the bolt covers are cracked. (Car came without mirrors, I bought these on GRM as the first/cheapest I could find - they work)
Idle sorta surges, sometimes - will hunt from 800 to 2k RPM. This changes with clutch depressed, so I think it's the clutch switch - there's a few people who have cleaned them and had it gone away.
Driver's convertible latch is missing a bolt
The AC didn't work, and the condenser showed clear staining when I pulled the engine, so condenser/lines are gone. I kept the Compressor and will include it.
Suspension could probably use a refresh.
Summary:
Great beater, I've enjoyed the heck out of driving it with my wife this past year. It won't win any awards, and your HOA won't like it, but it is a ton of fun to rip around in. This price is challenge-eligible and will help enable my next bad decision. PM me on here is a good bet. Wouldn't mind seeing it go pretty soon.
It comes with a number of parts including extra tombstone, doorcards, a tonneau, a glovebox, and a steering wheel. For $100, I will include the (disassembled) NB Bilsteins I bought for this, too.
