$3500

Up for sale is my 2007 Nissan 350Z that I have daily driven since I purchased it new over 11 years ago. It has been well maintained and has never been in an accident or had any body/paint work done ever.

I’m currently expecting to receive my new car this week. If I do not get any interest before then, then I will likely trade it in.

The car is not perfect, but for a car that has 179,000 miles on it, it’s not bad. I’m including pics of the bad along with the good.

About the bad:

The timing chain is stretching. It causes a check engine light to come and go but I had a mechanic take a good look at it and determined it was in fact of a new chain.

The airbag light recently came on. The mechanic was not able to pull any codes from it. It could possibly be the connections under the seat needing to be cleaned. But really it is unknown.

The drivers side quarter panel is rusting over the wheel well(see pics)

The drivers seat is worn(see pics)

Various interior pieces where frequent hand contact occurs are losing their paint.

The fuel door release broke off at the tip and the part is $100. I’ve got it rigged so it functions fine but I would want to replace it if I kept the car longer.

Sometimes the stereo buttons don’t work, most of the time they do. Either way I always use the steering wheel controls so it never bothered me.

About the good:

It looks great, it's hard to believe it's an 11 year old car.

I just had the slave/master cylinder and clutch replaced 6,000 miles ago.

While the car has 180k miles, I had the transmission replaced under warranty right at 60k miles.

Rear brakes and rotors are new, I have front rotors and pads that I would include so the buyer can replace when necessary. It could use a brake fluid change while you’re at it.

Stillen cold air intakes, if you’re into that sort of thing. The rest is unmodified.

If anyone has any questions, please reach out to me and I’ll do my best to answer them. Thanks for looking.

These are my favorite types of cars to buy: something sporty thats fully depreciated but well kept by a long term owner, needing only $1000-1500 of maintenance (timing chain here, cooling system on bmw, etc) to continue piling on the miles.   Park it anywhere without fear, and if someone taps it in traffic, you only cry a little.

Good luck with the sale, if my garage wasn't full at the moment I would happily take it off your hands.

Gosh... I love it. I don't really have $3500 laying around, but it's also too cheap already to low ball. Good luck man.

I wasnt a huge fan of these when they came out but they have grown on me slowly and surely over the years. That is a really good looking car, glws!

The chain issue might only be the tensioner and/or guides. Tensioner can be done in-car pretty easily through a small access panel so it's worth trying first.

In reply to maschinenbau :

Hmmm I will definitely look into this. I have a new mustang that should arrive this week, so I will have another vehicle while I tinker. Is this just a replace and hope type of thing or is there a way to confirm that it is in fact needing replacement?

Thanks

Chatted with mavidoore tonight. FaceTimed and saw the car. It’s nice.  I’m trying to work logistics to see if I can pick it up and make the drive back to Minnesota. The drive is giving me pause I’ll say.  Driving it 18 hours with some kind of timing chain need is a bit stress inducing.

Going to have to pass. Not much contingent in the budget should something go wrong on the drive home.  If I was closer I'd do it. But driving 18 hours with a car that has a timing issue requires more bravery than this middle aged man can muster.

It is a really screaming deal for someone closer.

Where in Northern VA? I would be towing it home, trying to determine the drive time from Dayton, Ohio.

Thanks.

Just an update to this post.

I posted this at the same time as posting a craigslist ad, which I took down the next day as I was getting a lot of interest but still had yet to take delivery of my new car. I I left the post up here but have not been in a rush to sell it. I'm going to repost locally when I get back from a trip in 2 weeks for a few hundred more. I will leave this ad/price as is in case anyone in the forum is still interested.

Thanks!

Dave
