That is a berkeleying DEAL if you are looking for a genuine 6-speed 8-series...NMNA.

best of luck to the guy whose heart overrules his head and decides that this probably "isn't too bad."
Looks like it's been keyed badly... that stinks. Also the dash display is almost out completely. I wonder how hard those are to find? It's been badged "M8" which tanks the value due to douchbro overload.
The bumper is a slightly different color than the front clip and doesn't hang quite right.
Yeah looks piece milled, if it could be got for challenge money and there was a wrecked vette around...

Yep. Considering there are 4 on Autotrader right now for under $20K (12 cyl, 6 spd cars) - and one of them is only 2x the price of this car - this car is sadly worth more in parts than it is as a project. So I disagree. This is not a berking deal. I'd wonder if the price isn't too high for someone who can get parts wholesale. Lastly, this car is a 'Ci' and not a 'CSi'. If it were a CSi, I might be inclined to agree with you as there might room in the completed value to restore it.
Yeah after a DK motor service, intake gaskets, two batteries the body work and who knows what else has been bro'd up this ones a parts car at this point and maybe worth 4K to the right guy.
"Buy the best one you can afford." How many times have you heard that? How many times have you thought that maybe this one is different? (Note: This one is NEVER different.)
I sold a very good condition 1997 840ci (last year of US production and the better of the 2 V8s) last year and struggled to get $9k for it. Granted it wasn't a 12cyl or 6 speed, but it was in SIGNIFICANTLY better condition.

Damn... did you post that here? If so, I must have missed it. Depending on the color, for $9K my ex- might have been making a flight to FL (she would only buy one in a dark color)...

I don't think I did. It was before the open classifieds, IIRC. Here's a picture though, just for fun.

Wow, you sold it for less than what you were selling it for. It was an auto too right?
In reply to dyintorace:
Ah... sometimes I forget the Open classifieds haven't been around that long.
Yep. Pretty sure she would have bought that... or would have seriously thought about it. That's one of the few 'reds' she likes. While she wants the V12/manual, she would have settled for the V8/auto if the price and condition were right.
Oh well... not my problem anymore.
Yep, it was an auto. I paid a fair amount more than $9k when I bought it ~12 months earlier. It had more issues than I realized and I just generally overpaid.
I supppose the one nice thing about these cars is they'll always have a bit of a following. Right after I bought my E30 in '10, the ex-g/f was pondering one (occasionally she misses her M3) and joined an 8-series forum. A few of them were at Carlisle so we talked with them a bit. One owner was in the process of converting his V12/auto to a 6 spd.
Anyway, it seem like if you're willing to spend a bit on a good one, you won't have to look for very long. Volvo 1800's are the same way.
