If I didn't just buy back back my Avant, I might have detoured my wagon search for this...

Note the title mention, maybe not best for a road car but a cheap race car.

Just a heads up, people swap 1.8T's into these without too much hassle

Is it as easy as it seems from the threads/articles? (Or as easy as an engine swap can be).

As someone with no official automotive training, just tinkering with things and mostly tearing cars apart over the years it's not too bad so far.

Working on the front engine mount is the next step, which will require some cardboard aided design. Some people have just made a bridge between the Boxster front engine mount and the 1.8t snub mount. People that have done V8s have gone a bit further and created an additional subframe to be able to use the side engine mounts as well. I'll go with just the front to start and get placement nailed down so I can work on all the rest, wiring, cooling, etc. then possibly beef up the engine mounting.

A new listing has appeared. A couple more pictures. Same sad, sad headlights. See the updated description below, said he swapped immo, ECU with good as a test and it runs and drives. Not included in sale though.

1999 Boxster, 138k. PARTS CAR or Race car only . I bought this car for parts to do a manual conversion but those plans fell through and I don’t need it anymore. The car had clogged top drains and sat for years with water in the footwell which killed the immobilizer computer, but besides for the obvious carpet damage everything works and I did test the car with  ecu ,key and immobilizer from my car and it does start run and drive. motor is good no smoking or overheating or noises . You will need a new immobilizer and key programmed if you want to get this running . There are dents all over the car and paint has faded , hood had bad repaint and there are chunks of paint missing , the headlights have an old yellow tint film that is chipping off but the lights are in decent condition underneath . I think 2500 is fair as a running parts car, I have seen used 2.5 engines sell for more than that alone. Would make a a great base for race car.
