03 Panther platform..
Thanks.
The first one, my phone wouldn't pull up the ad this morning. Might be my phone (nor me) not being very F B friendly , or maybe had already sold.
Just saw the Craigslist one - I'll look into that.
I had hoped someone on here in better financial shape than me, might have had a beater that they could afford to toss my way for the several hundred I could scrape up; despite the car being worth more. I have done that for others , back when I could afford to. 'Course being that kinda guy, might have contributed to my financial problems today.
Of the thousands of ads I've looked at, and hundreds I've responded to, 90 % of them turn out to have no title (but you can just go get one) or "runs and drives great. Just doesn't shift. And over heats. "

Now that, I might have to see if I can get a cash advance from work for!
Still way more than I can afford, and recent experience suggests he probably is not interested in helping me out.
Would love that for my wife, and me keep "mine" (was her mothers)
Sadly, out of reach (unless he is a generous guy)
I will contact that one.

I'm not really in a place where my poverty being a game, is particularly funny, but that may not be what you mean, and may not have read about the accident and problems getting income in.
I am blessed... my wife does have the $3-4K Sunday car to drive, I'd just like he to be able to keep the miles down on it. I do have a diesel work truck... not ideal for this job, and too rough for her (allergic to the diesel fumes) and I've got my (former cream puff, now beater) 03 Merc up here for the ga job.
So far, my best bet is if a GRM er had a driving beater, they could help out with by letting me have it for the $500 I have so far; and my needs are semi dependable for a few months. Don't care if ac or comforts work. Just gotta get to work, so I can make enough to pay some back bills, and get something nicer.
Thanks.

I was in no way trying to imply any hardship you are facing, or anyone is facing, is a game. I have apparently missed a discussion about what you're dealing with. I was only curious as to what the general idea was with the thread to see if there's some scope or guidance for suggestions.
Sincerely sorry to hear that things are not going well for you right now. I hope that you get some good suggestions for a car and that things get better for you.

All good, brother!
I'm a bit sensitive (Shame on me.. I should be apologizing to you!)
Most of me knew that... my F B conversations have me very frustrated.
and like I have said, not having enough money to buy a beater for more than old beater prices, really is a first world problem!!!
I will correct the parameter of cheap and good, to very cheap, and will make it around the block... ain't gotta be good!!!
In reply to etifosi :
I'd drop 1200 on that in a heart beat. But I doubt he'll hold it till I can get that much
A fellow on here, I'd ask, and prolly work out.
I hope I find a deal that good, when I can, and as long as none of our old inexpensive cars break in between, we are golden!
Thanks.

If that was a RWD (panther) I'd be on the way to look at it today after work. I have the parts. For the LS, I did message, we'll see. Thanks.
In reply to clownkiller :
I missed the fiat ad earlier. It has been sold now. My wife will be glad, cause I might have tried to pull that off!!!
The Lincoln, being an 03 (or up) has potential... since I could put my wife in that, keep driving my Merc, and have a parts car, already; will go a bit farther on the limb for that!
Thanks
There is a 03 Town Car (RWD panther) ad near me: higher miles, bit worse body, but better interior. Same 2200 price.
" great driving hiway car. No title, but the car is really good condition. Does need a motor. "
Uh, (to use f b speak) "wat do U mn?"
The 96 Lincoln, is a panther platform, but not a desirable one. If he had started at 1800, I might have thought he'd come down to a realistic 1200. But it was for sale for a while for that 3800... so I'm rather sure "he knows what he's got".
Personally, I'm not confident in high mileage Honda automatics. I think if you can find a panther platform in drivable condition (with a berkeleying title!), it would probably be a good option.
I thought I would see what is available locally (central Florida).
It might not be helpful, so forgive me if I'm just cluttering up the thread. These aren't on your list, and I've never owned one, but I understand they're pretty durable.
this one might not be real, seems too cheap.
$1200 Buick Enclave SUV
If the trade that includes the Corolla Wagon goes through, I'd say it's a hood choice. That gen Corolla is about as bullet proof as any relatively modern car.
In reply to Floating Doc (Forum Supporter) :
The 3800 series II is one I've my favorite engines. I have a RWD / 5 speed on a pallet, for a "one day" toy.
That LeSaber is exactly the kind of deal I want! When I get a few more dollars set aside.
We almost bought a Enclave before we got the Highlander several years ago. The $4500 in repairs in the first 15K miles we owned the Toyota made us kinda wish we had!
I was just starting to warm up to the Toyota, and enjoy it as a traveler; then...
I do have high hopes for the Corolla wagon.
And this contract is going well; the two week pay period is long, and first one was only one week, but two weeks from now, a full check will catch up about half of the back bills.
But to emphasize once again, as broke as I am, I'm truly blessed to only be first world problems kind of broke
