I haven't had a good excuse to keep this car for a couple of years, but I'm finally moving so push has come to shove. 5-speed wagon with 3.0L swap 50k miles ago, lots of refreshing updates at and since that time. 250k on the body, a bit over 150k on the engine, but it's very well sorted out. Price, honestly, was hard to set - a pristine example auctioned recently for $36k, and high mileage 2.5L wagons can be had around $4k, so I edited this section and removed my 13k asking (Includes snow tires for anyone who wants to drive a lowered RWD BMW in the snow!)

NEW GRM price before I update it elsewhere: $9k! Thank you for the honest feedback, y'all.

So far Facebook Marketplace offers range from $1200 to "please use this sketchy VIN report website"

...Am I crazy? I need someone to tell me if it should be in the single digit thousands!

I saw:

1. A preface lift e46 330i wagon with 137k all records one owner, on 2k wheels and H&R springs go for $3750. I follow him on Instagram as he sells wheels and some cars, less than six months ago.

2. A e46 M3 with 165k miles that ran but had all the dash lights lit, being offered and no sale at 12k on Fb marketplace, last month.

So I would say your pricing is off. It's clean Yes, but those miles are high.

I would think single digit thousands.

And i say that as someone who wouldn't pay $9k for an e46, just admitting that other people do.

Agreed.  The 3.0 is a nice plus, but not a game changer like an S54 swap.

I had a chance to buy a silver E46 Touring–manual box, no sunroof–for like $3400 from a good friend a while back. This was way before Covid. It’ll haunt me.

Thanks for the feedback, but that's gotta be an outlier! I sold my 200k mile 323i with a bad interior for 3k really quickly up here in the PNW.

With short gearing it felt like a big step up from the 323i, but now that I'm looking at the numbers, how did I not know the S54 made >330hp? That's a lot! Maybe I should keep it and do the M3 swap instead :)

I have a MY2000 330iT ZHP, 6-speed. Swapped EVERYTHING over from the ZHP. The M54B30 is a game changer. The car is a dream to drive.

There is a "Tourings for Sale" thread on E46 Fanatics (https://www.e46fanatics.com/threads/tourings-for-sale-thread.1093661/page-384?post_id=19339422#post-19339422) where lots of E46 wagon listings get shared. Keep an eye on it to see asking prices for similar cars around the country.

Nice looking example honestly presented and taken care of, very hard to find these days in an E46 let alone a touring!

These are such a treat to drive. Road tripped a friends 5MT swapped 325iT and we race a 330xiT 5MT in 24 hours of lemons.

24 Hrs of Lemons isn't helping my case laugh but that sounds like a blast. I am definitely going to miss this car, especially since it's just the spiritual (and partial parts) successor to my first car, a 2000 323i. I haven't really had to emotionally process selling that because I feel like I still have it. Oh well!

Thanks! Looks like it would be against the rules for me to post my own craigslist link there. Didn't say anything about GRM buddies who may have organically found it, though...

I'll post it up there for you. Should have offered earlier. Sorry.  You want the CL Ad posted up?

Anyone want to make me an offer? Getting down to the wire here and it's worth a couple of grand to not ship it! (Shipping available to STL, on that note)

One thought is, modified cars have a smaller audience.  It is a perfect car for me.

It's a 25 year old BMW, not good.  Lowered gives it a great look, some will see the first picture and pass.  Engine swapped, great improvement but begs the question of why did it need one.  It doesn't matter how new some parts are it is still a 250k mile car.

You may find the right butt for that seat but it will take a while.  Ultimately it is a high mile car with a different size engine, not an S54 six speed.

KBB puts it at $1500-$4500 getting double that may be a stretch.

It would sell quick for $5-6k, maybe.

Ok, unsolicited advise is also known as abuse.

Raise it up to near stock height, omit all of the work that has been done to it and replace that with, Recent Major Service, needs nothing.  Highlight its strong points, interior, exterior, maybe even skip the snow tire part.  That just makes me think of rust.  Sometimes less is more.  Is it on BMWCCA?

Anyone in the market for a 330it will understand that it has a larger engine highlighting that fact may narrow the market.

When I go to sell my Mustang It will appear as stock as possible, the add will mention very little if anything about the mods.  Pictures will give clues, this will at least get people inquiring.

Bottom line is, I would love this car but not at that price.  An analog experience, well documented car that is relatively easy to work on will all the resources needed to keep it going for another 25 years.

But how are the pixels?

Shipping to St. Louis?  That's like one tank of gas from me all though I would prefer a fly and drive from Oregon.
