I have a future gear head on the way, so SWMBO and I have decided that the fleet needs to be downsized and upgraded. So my beloved tow vehicle is on the chopping block.
It's a 2000 Chevy Silverado 2500, 6.0L V8, 4WD, extended cab, 8' bed, LS model w/ tow package. Comes with a bed cap, has spray on bedliner as well. 156,XXX miles on the clock. Truck is located in Yardley Pennsylvania (Bucks County).
It's a damn big truck. I've owned it for two years now, hardly driven it apart from Home Depot trips and pulling my little wagon around. It has been rock solid dependable so far, never left me stranded except in my driveway (more details on that below). Title is clean and sitting on my kitchen counter.
The good:
- Body is in relatively good shape. Needs a good exterior detail from sitting in my driveway a lot.
- Brakes are new as of last winter. I had a hard line failure (in my driveway) and replaced every line from the master cylinder back. Also did all 4 calipers, rotors and pads at the same time.
- Has a new starter (also died in the driveway).
- Power windows, locks, cruise control, radio, etc. all work and have no known issues.
The Bad:
- Cab has rust in the usual places (underside of cab where the door panels meet the body). Rear bumper is also rusty per usual.
- Gas gauge can be flakey, but is accurate when it settles down.
- Currently has CEL's P0157 & P0336. I have a new O2 sensor and CPS, just haven't had time to replace them yet.
- Started getting some water leaks in the cab. The front drivers side carpet gets damp, so I believe there is a leak in the windshield somewhere. Again, haven't had time to track it down, but I do keep desiccant packs in there to keep it dry.
- AC needs a re-charge. I'll probably grab a can of refrigerant next time I swing by Advanced.
- Has typical wear and tear for being 15 years old.
That's the low down on it. Looking for $4500 as it sits with the issues. Open to offers, you won't insult me so let me know what you're thinking.
You can email me at holubowski dot stan at gmail dot com. More pictures can be taken, let me know what you wanna see.

I still don't understand how you northerners do it. Rust on a 15-year-old truck. wow
Have you seen the metric tons of salt that they dump on the roads in the winter time?? It sounds like I'm driving at high speed down a gravel road on I-95 in January.
In reply to Tom Suddard:
Tom, I have a 98 G3500 van that I've owned for over 2-years and not once driven in winter...and the rockers have started rusting in multiple spots during that timeframe. Yeah, it sucks. Looking forward to moving south as soon as we can.
I had to weld in new front frame rail horns in my 1999 Miata. There were 17" long perforations from the spring perches to the bumper supports. 30 years ago a car would have holes in it after 5 years.
Tom, I measured a weld seam in my Challenge car this morning. I had to cut out rocker rust from wheel well to wheel well on a Corolla. The weld is 76" long and everything below it is new metal.I have a fetish for southern vehicles for a reason.
Shout out to yardley pa. I'm from newtown.
Good to hear from a fellow Buck County-er. My wife works in Newtown, so we're over in that area quite a bit.

This is the bottom of a 12-year-old Subaru where the rear subframe mounts:
That truck is clean for being in salt country.
Good price for that truck, good luck with sale!

Iirc, our local Subaru dealer has never replaced a set of control arms under the recall program.

I'm interested. What kind of mileage does it get? Won't be ready to do something until after this month. Would that be a problem for you? Can you email me pictures all around and interior?
Thanks,
Don (don49ataol.com)
Don, it isn't terrible on gas for what it is. I've done close to 600 miles on a tank without a trailer in tow (all highway), about ~400 with.
The wife and I will be taking it to the dealer tonight to see what they'll give us for trade in, so that will have a big factor in the sale time frame. I'll snap some more pictures tonight, post them, and get back to you on timeframe.
I spent most of my night at the dealership unfortunately, so I didn't get a chance to take pictures. I'll have some tonight and send you an email Don.
