I think the only reason I would buy one of those is if I was putting together a malaise era museum. But, then I'd look for a Pontiac Astre just for the added rarity.
I had an Astre back in Shop Teacher Training School at BCIT in 1995.
4-bolt 350 with a mild cam, 4-speed. Ripped the rear lower links out of the floor doing shenanigans on Marine Drive in Vancouver. Fabricated ladder bars after that, but then the doors didn't open so well.
I think ShawnG helped cut it up at his highschool.
There will always be a soft spot in my heart for Vegas. When I was 9 years old, we lived in a suburban Atlanta community and one of my neighbors was a single guy with a bunch of cars, including a chrome bumper C3 and a race-prepped C2. But he also had a trio of Vegas that were his daily drivers. I spent a few weekend afternoons in his driveway holding stuff and trying to help with whatever project he was fiddling with. One thing that always struck me was how organized and clean his garage was. It was probably fairly small (walk-out basement garage with one door), but it seemed huge to my 9 year old kid eyes.
My mom's parents bought her a new first year Vega when she graduated highschool. It had rusted back into the earth by 1977. She has scars from falling through the driver's side door sill. I'm impressed by how bad it was.
I had a colleague back in the '90s where I worked and we both had newer LT1 F-Bodies. He had some mods and thought that black Trans-Am of his could take down anything. Now, I need to tell you that he was very young and inexperienced and from a poor inner-city neighborhood. He had some cash in his pockets with the good job and about every dime he made went into that TA. And it was a sharp and quick car. Then one Monday he came in looking all dejected and said he'd been beat, not beat but completely left for dead by a Vega of all things! I nearly fell over backward when he described it; "..some jacked up white old Vega with 'Grumpy' painted on it..". He never understood.

Hey... what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.

That's what Corvette people say about the 1 year only ('76) Vega steering wheel that found its way into the plastic fantastic.
