One. One is the maximum number of drives to new England I will make in a 12 month window to buy hopeless cars.. . I think
At this point, I'd want it just for the body/interior and the title (assuming it has a valid one). I think it'd benefit from a custom chassis, and maybe a K24 swap, all of which are far beyond my time and ability right now. I thought Esprits were pretty much some of the best looking exotics of that era.

You are closer to me than CT, let's get this thing closer to home.
If I recall correctly, I think these things came with weak transaxles and inboard brakes, which makes any kind of swap pretty complicated.
In reply to Woody (Forum Supportum) :
I was thinking ditching all the Lotus mechanicals and cramming a FWD transverse drivetrain in there would be the best option. Major rear frame surgery would probably be required, but at least it's already disassembled...
In reply to eastsideTim :
I don't think a transverse drivetrain would be an easy fit, but a longitudinal one like one out of an Audi has been fitted to them in the past. IIRC there's at least one in the UK fitted with a 4.2L Audi and a suitable manual box.
5 cylinder turbo might need some surgery though, but the four bangers and the V6/V8 should fit with some angle grinding.
In reply to BoxheadTim :
Probably wouldn't fit, but you know they make an adapter to put a ford 302 on one of those...
Wonder what could be done with Chevy bolt or Nissan leaf motors...
